This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET). Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered. When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it’s no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again. “Random ordering” of results varies daily.
Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist or sovereignist contents by marking them as noxious.
We currently count 11,530 Mastodon instances, with 8,710,433 users (1,360,483 active during last month) and 903,373,703 published statuses. [Show Threads moderation statistics]
These statistics on the status of Threads moderation are based on the list of moderated instances, which is accessible only on some instances, and on the list of instances adhering to the Anti-Meta Fedi Pact.

About FLOSS.social
FLOSS.social was launched on 1 April 2018 as a Mastodon server for people who care about, support, or build Free, Libre, and Open Source Software (FLOSS). Of course, our community discussions aren't limited to just FLOSS. We encourage everyone here to share their unique interests!
Posting in English is recommended, for maximum conversation opportunities within the FLOSS community, but it is not required. However, you will need to understand English in order to agree to our Community Code of Conduct.
This service was installed and is maintained in part by Masto.Host with equipment located at OVH, object storage provided by BunnyCDN, and outbound email via SparkPost.
Please contact @admin@floss.social with any moderation or administrative concerns. Additional information about reporting concerns related to the Community Code of Conduct can be found below.

FLOSS.social Community Code of Conduct
Our Pledge to Each Other
In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, we as FLOSS.social members, moderators, and admins (collectively known as FLOSS.social community members) pledge to make our participation in FLOSS.social and the greater Fediverse a a harassment-free experience for everyone.
Diversity is Encouraged
FLOSS.social aims to provide a positive, safer environment not only everyone in its community but also those who interact with us, regardless of:
Our Standards
Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive, safer environment include, but are not limited to:
Examples of unacceptable behavior by FLOSS.social community members include, but are not limited to:
FLOSS.social prioritizes marginalized people's safety over privileged people's comfort. FLOSS.social moderators and admins will not take action on complaints regarding:
Our Responsibilities
FLOSS.social moderators and admins are responsible for clarifying the standards of acceptable behavior and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behavior.
FLOSS.social moderators and admins have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject posts, messages, comments, commits, code, and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct.
FLOSS.social moderators and admins have the right to take certain action in response to any FLOSS.social community member exhibiting other behaviors that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful. Examples of such actions include, but are not limited to:
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies within FLOSS.social community spaces:
When FLOSS.social community members contribute in discussion in or from our services, they represent the FLOSS.social community and its reputation. Therefore, this Code of Conduct applies to:
This Code of Conduct also applies to official FLOSS.social communication, such as:
Representation of our community may be further defined and clarified by FLOSS.social admins and moderators.
If a concern about a past incident in any space is made known to a moderator or admin about a current FLOSS.social community member, FLOSS.social moderators or admins may take it into account when deciding whether the incident should have any consequences to the community member's participation in the FLOSS.social community.
Enforcement
Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by:
All complaints will be reviewed and investigated as quickly as practicable, and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The FLOSS.social admins and moderators are obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident. Further details of specific enforcement policies may be posted separately.

The Outreachy Community Code of Conduct was adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 1.4.
FLOSS.social Inactive Account Policy
In an effort to free up a wide range of account names, FLOSS.social has a policy to delete inactive accounts and associated personal data. An account is considered inactive when (a) no posts have been made on the account and it has been at least twelve (12) months since the account was last accessed, or (b) it has been at least twenty-four (24) months since the account was last accessed. For purposes of this policy, "accessed" means you have interacted with your account through one or more signed-in session from any device. In order to warn the users concerned, an email will be sent to the e-mail address on file for the account providing the user twenty-one (21) days to reply and request an appeal for the account to be restored. Once an account has been deleted and the warning period has passed, it can no longer be recovered. To use FLOSS.social again, you'll need to create a new account.

Welcome to deadinsi.de! We're happy you're considering to toot with us and taking the time to read our policy.
Mastodon User Policy
Scope and Audience
This policy is for users who have their accounts on deadinsi.de. There is a separate peering policy for deciding when and how to federate with other instances. Generally, for users on the instance a higher standard applies.
Our instance is only available to users for personal use. Accounts with a commercial background should look elsewhere. Promoting your own work is okay, as long as it is not the focus of your account.
Intent and Remedies
Our guiding principle for remedies is that of intent and willingness to correct ones own behavior. It is okay if you fuck up. But we expect you to correct your behavior as soon as we point it out.
Please approach the moderation team with any issues or questions about this policy, or any other policy in this document. We're always happy to expand in the rationale of these policies and provide advice about being excellent to each other.
If you disagree and reject our requests to fix your behavior, maybe this isn't the right instance for you.
Banned Content
Content that is illegal in the United States is subject to suspensions. Independent from their legal status, any depictions of minors in a sexual context, real or imagined, is banned and will lead to suspensions.
Prohibited Content
We have a zero-tolerance policy against bigoted behavior. This especially includes, but is not limited to racism, sexism, xenophobia, antisemitism, islamophobia, transphobia and ableism.
Do not explicitly endorse systems of oppression as a remedy to the same. This especially applies to the myth of meritocracy.
Do not argue for the existence or relevance of reverse-racism or reverse-sexism. Racism and sexism are deep structural issues with culture and not the expression of single persons.
Content Warnings
We ask all users to make use of the Content Warning ("CW") feature in Mastodon extensively. While this is a hard requirement for any adult or disturbing content, particularly involving discussion about prohibited content, we highly encourage using it as a general disclaimer regarding the content of your toot.
If someone asks you to add a warning to a particular type of content, it is generally a good idea to follow through.
Personal Pronouns
We highly encourage you to add your pronouns to your profile and check your fellow users profiles for pronouns before engaging in conversation with them.
Discussions and Debate
If you want to start an argument, it is better to ask if the person you're engaging would be interested in hearing your take first. We're trying to build a space where everyone feels comfortable being themselves, not a debate club. When you're asked to disengage, do so.
Data usage
All original content shared on deadinsi.de is the sole property of its creator. This data may not be used, published, or reproduced in any place other than Mastodon and related federated platforms, for any reason, without explicit permission granted on a user by user basis. Any datamining or harvesting operations without full prior consent of all affected users are not permitted on deadinsi.de.
Mastodon Peering Policy
Scope
This policy is for anyone on the fediverse who wants to interact with our users or join our relay. There is a separate user policy for accounts hosted on deadinsi.de.
Banned Content
Content that is illegal in the United States is subject to suspensions. Independent from their legal status, any depictions of minors in a sexual context, real or imagined, is banned and will lead to suspensions. For instances where such content is legal, a media block silence is enforced instead.
Prohibited Content
We have a zero-tolerance policy against bigoted behavior. This especially includes, but is not limited to racism, sexism, xenophobia, antisemitism, islamophobia, transphobia and ableism.
Instances that do not moderate such content might be silenced or suspended, based on severity. Outright fascism for instance will be suspended, while reactionary ideology will usually be silenced.
Harassment
Instances hosting users that do not follow our "disengage on request" policy or send messages that can be construed to fall into our definition of prohibited content may be silenced or suspended based on severity. If the severity is not too high the user should be silenced or suspended first before a grace period where the instance moderation team is given time to rectify the situation.
