This instance is intended to be a non-sectarian space for leftist discussion, along the lines of hexbear.net, but in a federated micro-blogging format.

Matapacos.dog is an anti-sectarian leftist (read: anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, above all else) instance, established to welcome discussion of the full spectrum of anti-capitalist tactics and theoretical perspectives in good faith.

Historically, this instance was created as an offshoot of Hexbear.net to dip our toes into the Fediverse (when Lemmy compatibility with the microblogging neighborhood of the Fediverse was even worse than it is today), but it is still best described as "unofficial, Hexbear-adjacent" thing since it was launched and (still is) administered unilaterally by a single person.

This instance is a member of the FediPact (https://fedipact.online/). This instance is running Mastodon "Glitch Edition" (https://glitch-soc.github.io/docs/), a fork with a number of cool experimental features, but fewer guarantees of stability. The post character limit has been increased to 2000 characters. Most of the time, full text search and LibreTranslate are also available.

1. No bigotry or discrimination. It's on sight. If you're being a bigot ironically, you will be removed "ironically."
2. No sectarianism. If somebody makes a fool of themself, take issue with them and their position. Do not do the Ben Shapiro / Jesse Waters shtick where you fish for insignificant cranks to discredit broad movements. Friendly ribbing is OK.

Who are we?

PNW.Zone is a decentralised, free and open alternative to Twitter based on Mastodon. Part of the Fediverse.

The following guidelines are not a legal document, and final interpretation is up to the administration of pnw.zone; they are here to provide you with an insight into our content moderation policies:

2. Bots: Uncurated bots posting from third-party sources must first obtain approval from administration

We're hosted on AWS in the Oregon region. Media is replicated to caching endpoints around the world. Local laws apply.

In an attempt to curb spam accounts the site has been set to require approval for registration. These will be reviewed ASAP.

This is a federated server and is relayed to several other furry Mastodon instances.

Content Warnings

Mastodon/Wobbl.xyz does not force the use of content warnings (CWs); however, using them is a cultural norm of the platform. On Mastodon, the words "content warning" don't automatically mean that a post is NSFW and they're not synonymous with "trigger warning." They're just tags which tell people what kind of content is in a post, and they can be better thought of as "spoilers" or "content notices." Mastodon also allows users to filter posts on keywords contained in CWs to avoid certain content, and it indexes CWs for searching. The goal of CWs is to prevent surprises and make posts easier to discover.

Posts from Wobbl.xyz are sent to other federated instances through boosts and the Federated Timeline. An excess of posts without CWs or with vague CWs may cause other instances to defederate (block) us, so please use CWs where appropriate.

AI Art

Wobbl does not allow the posting of AI generated art.

We define AI art as art that is fully or primarily generated by a neural network AI art generator (i.e. DALL-E).

The reason we are choosing to ban AI art is because these platforms generally use scraped art assets and images for their data models without proper copyright attribution or compensation to the original artists. We polled the Wobbl community and received a large response in favor of the ban.

The Wobbl team considers the current iteration of these platforms as theft and plagiarism of copyrighted works of artists, and currently there does not appear to be a way to mitigate this glaring issue. We value the importance of artists in the furry community and choose to support them against this major threat. As technology is always changing, this policy will be updated as necessary.

If you do not have a Wobbl account, please email admin@wobbl.xyz with your concerns and we'll investigate. Follow-up steps may require contact off-platform to verify information as best we can.

Because it would be impossible for Wobbl mods to proactively verify the "true furry identity" of every user on Wobbl, please understand that we strongly prefer that the impersonated person or artist to contact us DIRECTLY (through a report or email) rather than have someone report the art/impersonation on their behalf. We cannot, out-of-the-blue, proactively reach out to each and every impersonated person or artist to ask for more details.
