1. No toxic and hateful speech. We have a zero-tolerance policy on toxic and hateful speech. This includes attacks against anyone’s gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, age, disability, personal appearance, or socio-economic status.
2. No incitement of violence and no promotion of misleading/violent ideologies. You may not make specific threats of violence or physical harm, death, or disease to an individual or group of people. This includes, but is not limited to, promoting misleading information that may lead to physical harm.

Inactivity

After a long while of inactivity, accounts are scheduled for deletion. New and unused accounts will be scheduled for deletion quicker. This is to enhance the privacy of users that may have forgotten they have an account. Remember to retrieve a backup of your data before this time as the deletion is irreversible. A warning will be sent out before deletion in case the user has just forgotten about the account.

1. Hate speech and discrimination, such as, but not limited to, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia and abelism and content illegal in Europe is not allowed in any form.
2. Content warnings (CWs) are often either required or highly encouraged to keep our server safe and friendly for as many people as possible. CW-ing nudity, lewdness, politics, gore and spam-like posts are all mandatory. Failure to comply will result in account limiting.
3. Bios (account biographies) should be kept "safe for work". Highly distracting, lewd or otherwise obscene avatar or header images are not allowed.
4. Malicious or misleading information (such as, but not limited to, anti-science, fake news and hate brigading) are bannable offences. This also includes the encouragement and normalising of said information. Such content can, for example, include anti-vaccine and alternative medicine.
5. Extreme political content, such as Nazism, authoritarianism, "tankieism", and extreme nationalism is a bannable offence. An exception to this are news stories and meta around these topics.
6. Incitement of violence, regardless of the situation, is generally not allowed and appropriate content warnings is required as a minimum! We also realise that there is a difference between punching up vs. down, and that violence is sometimes unavoidable, such as protests.
7. Advertising is discouraged and is allowed at the discretion of moderators. Commissions related to the arts, charitable causes (that are demonstrably not for-profit) and personal donation requests are exempt. A general rule is that if you think that it would be annoying, put it behind a CW.
8. We do not allow any bots or automated services including crossposters from other social media sites. You can have a look at sites like "botsin.space" for that kind of stuff.
9. Doxing and non-consensual breaches of privacy is not allowed and breaking this rule will most likely result in a ban.
10. Posting uncaptioned media with public visibility is not allowed and will get your account limited, usually if repeated behaviour is observed. Twootsite is supposed to be an inclusive and accessible place. Only local posts are affected by this rule, not remote posts or boosts.

The Waypoint community an inclusive, fun, and safe place to talk about games and other things. Waypoint is focused on "why we play" and that’s the common interest that brought us all here.

Rules

Rule 1: Bigotry, including but not limited to discrimination or hate speech based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, or any other attacks on one’s personhood, will not be tolerated.

Rule 2: Threatening behaviour or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Our community and its platforms are not to be used to launch attacks on anyone. Do not post screenshots of DMs or posts marked as private without the consent of all involved. This applies even if identifying information is removed.

Rule 3: This is a space for people with myriad backgrounds. When replying, consider whether your perspective is needed or whether you’d gain more by listening. Conversely, if you feel someone is out of their lane, please raise the issue with a moderator. Don't assume everyone is like you, especially if you grew up or live in the global West, are White, Cis, Able-Bodied, Neurotypical, Financially Secure, or any combination therein. If you don’t know about a topic, research it.

Rule 4: Use content warnings when posting depictions of sex and sexuality, substance abuse, violence, disease, body horror, and death. Mark images as sensitive if they contain nudity, gore, food, or any of the above subject matter. Do not post about gun ownership or recruit people into organizations that advocate for gun ownership. If you're unsure, play it safe and use a content warning.

Note: We cannot guarantee that other Mastodon servers will adhere to our content warning standards. If you come across untagged content that you don't wish to see, please report it so we can hide it from the public timeline.

Rule 5: When posting someone else’s work (art, cosplay, and so on), please do your best to source it and provide links to the creator's social media or portfolio. If you don't have the source, do a reverse image search to look for it.

Rule 6: The following content is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate ban: sexual depictions of children, Nazi symbolism, and promotion of cryptocurrency or NFTs.

Moderation Policy

The moderator team is made up of community volunteers who are not employed by and have no formal affiliation with VICE or its properties and should not be contacted with feedback or criticism for any content posted on vice.com or by its employees. The moderator team does not have input or control over content posted on vice.com, nor do they discuss editorial choices with the staff. They are not representatives of VICE, Waypoint Radio, or Motherboard.

We cannot see everything that goes on and have our own knowledge gaps. We are here to facilitate this server being as close to the goals laid out as possible, and we are always open to suggestions about how to do that, or to criticism about how we may have messed up. Please send a DM to the moderators to get in touch with us for any reason.

The mods take our rules seriously as they are what contribute to people feeling safe. All moderator decisions are made as a team; multiple people from different backgrounds offer their perspectives on each issue. Penalties include formal warnings and account suspensions, with scaling severity depending on the circumstances. If you continue to disregard the rules, goals, or otherwise fail to adapt, you will be banned. Disciplinary action for unprecedented events or situations not covered by our rules will vary.

What you should do if you break the rules and are warned

Realize it’s nothing personal, hold your hand up, consider you might have been wrong, and take a breath. Make an effort to do better next time and not repeat mistakes. More members than you might think have slipped up in the past, addressed the behavior, and continued to be a part of the community.

Reporting offensive or unwanted content

If you come across content that breaks our server rules, whether it was posted by an account on this server or not, the best way to let the moderators know is to use the built-in Report feature. We may not be able to handle your report for a few hours, but rest assured that we take every report seriously. Mastodon has moderation tools that allow us to block accounts from other servers, or even block entire servers as needed to keep this space safe. We also highly recommend unfollowing, muting or blocking accounts that you do not wish to engage with, regardless of whether their posts violate our rules.

5. When posting someone else’s work (art, cosplay, and so on), please do your best to source it and provide links to the creator's social media or portfolio. If you don't have the source, do a reverse image search to look for it.
6. The following content is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate ban: sexual depictions of children, Nazi symbolism, and promotion of cryptocurrency or NFTs.

Creating an account

When creating an account, please describe the bot you'd like to deploy. If you drop the word "sidekick" in the signup reason box, we'll know you're not a bot yourself and your account will be created sooner. We approx signups within a day.

We respect your right to privacy. We have no ads, third party cookies or trackers and hold an A+ rating from Mozilla Observatory. The instance is hosted in the EU and served by a global content delivery network.
