Welcome to donphan.social!

We aim to provide a free and safe space for Pokéfans of the federation, whether as a main general account to toot about anything, or for Pokémon-focused accounts to toot about anything related to the franchise.

The server’s registrations are currently set on manual approval, because the server is constantly targeted by advertisement robots. When submitting a registration application, please signal that you have read the server’s rules and that you intend to respect them. It’s also appreciated but not mandatory to link your existing fediverse or otherwise social media presence, if any.

If you want to help cover the financial costs of this server so we can keep this Pokémon community alive, you can send some Poké-dollars via Patreon!

The following guidelines, as well as their simplified version, are not legal documents, and final interpretation is up to the administration of donphan.social, they are here to provide you with an insight into our content moderation policies.

  • Descriptive Content Warnings on any kind of sexual, violent or any other sensitive types of content are mandatory on public posts
  • Content Warnings on leaks, or rumors on the Pokémon franchise are mandatory, and strongly recommended on spoilers, or new official announcements about content for upcoming Pokémon media, or for any other franchise
  • It is highly recommended that you add a text descriptions to the images you post, to help make them accessible to people who use screen readers. To do so, hover on an image you just uploaded in the compose form, and you will have access to a field you can type into.
  • Fanart that are not made by the users posting them must be sourced to the original artist, or to where it was found if the original artist cannot be identified
  • CSAM or any kind of content sexualizing minors in any way shape or form is forbidden
  • Corporate advertising and brand accounts are forbidden, as well as accounts made solely to promote products or services with minimal connection to the server
  • Hate speech (including but not limited to, in no particular order: racism, ableism, misoginy, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, antisemitism, islamophobia, classism, prejudice against sex workers), defense of hateful ideologies, harassment, dogwhistling (implicit but deliberate discrimination through coded language), reverse-ism and other generally malevolent types of behavior are forbidden
  • Anti-vaccination rhetoric, as well as other disproved conspiracy theories that do not fall into the hate speech rule but still pose a threat to public health and/or public safety are forbidden
  • Promotion of cryptocurrency or related projects including but not limited to web3, NFTs are forbidden

To make sure that this space remains safe and inclusive, we are blocking servers who either encourage hate speech, harassment, abuse and otherwise heinous behavior, or don’t moderate it strongly enough. Blocks won't be announced and blocked servers won't be notified of their block. The blocklist is accessible to registered users.

@noiob has access to the server infrastructure. They are not going to be an admin or moderator here, but will be able to take over the server in case something happens that makes it so I cannot access it anymore. Please do not contact them unless it is absolutely certain that I won't have, or haven't had access to the server's infrastructure for a prolonged amount of time.

Mastodon User Policy

Scope and Audience

This policy is for users who have their accounts on deadinsi.de. There is a separate peering policy for deciding when and how to federate with other instances. Generally, for users on the instance a higher standard applies.

Our instance is only available to users for personal use. Accounts with a commercial background should look elsewhere. Promoting your own work is okay, as long as it is not the focus of your account.

Intent and Remedies

Our guiding principle for remedies is that of intent and willingness to correct ones own behavior. It is okay if you fuck up. But we expect you to correct your behavior as soon as we point it out.

Please approach the moderation team with any issues or questions about this policy, or any other policy in this document. We're always happy to expand in the rationale of these policies and provide advice about being excellent to each other.

If you disagree and reject our requests to fix your behavior, maybe this isn't the right instance for you.

Banned Content

Content that is illegal in the United States is subject to suspensions. Independent from their legal status, any depictions of minors in a sexual context, real or imagined, is banned and will lead to suspensions.

Prohibited Content

We have a zero-tolerance policy against bigoted behavior. This especially includes, but is not limited to racism, sexism, discrimination against sex workers, xenophobia, antisemitism, islamophobia, transphobia and ableism.

Do not explicitly endorse systems of oppression as a remedy to the same. This especially applies to the myth of meritocracy.

Do not argue for the existence or relevance of reverse-racism or reverse-sexism. Racism and sexism are deep structural issues with culture and not the expression of single persons.

Content Warnings

We ask all users to make use of the Content Warning ("CW") feature in Mastodon extensively. While this is a hard requirement for any adult or disturbing content, particularly involving discussion about prohibited content, we highly encourage using it as a general disclaimer regarding the content of your toot.

If someone asks you to add a warning to a particular type of content, it is generally a good idea to follow through.

Personal Pronouns

Mastodon Peering Policy

Scope

This policy is for anyone on the fediverse who wants to interact with our users or join our relay. There is a separate user policy for accounts hosted on deadinsi.de.

Banned Content

A hackerspace (also referred to as a hacklab, hackspace, or makerspace) is a community-operated, often "not for profit", workspace where people with common interests, such as computers, machining, technology, science, digital art, or electronic art, can meet, socialise, and collaborate. Think of this as your virtual hackerspace.

We are located in Australia (thus the domain) but we don't restrict membership to Australia but we do ask that profiles and posts are in english so as to be the most accessible.

To keep spam and trolling to a minimum we moderate registration. Our server is primarily geared towards people who are in or interested in the Hackerspace movement. We want this to be a place where you can freely discuss your projects and project ideas.

The Mended Drum should serve as a welcoming home to any and all who remember Sir Terry Prachett (#gnuterrypratchett). Denizens of alt.fan.pratchett, alt.talk.mendeddrum and irc.lspace.org are especially welcome.

If this sounds like garbish to you, I congratulate you on your youth and wish you a very warm welcome if you like the writings of Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, Charles Stross, Diane Duane, and more.
