Who It's For

Quokka.City is designed by ex-Quotev users for migrating users seeking private and accessible alternatives for microblogging sites. This space is not by any means a replacement for Quotev, but instead aims to help previous users recuperate and microblog at will. As long as you are a former Quotev user and abide by our rules, you are welcome here! This is not intended to be cliquey or exclusive by any means, and we strive to moderate as fairly as possible.

How To Sign Up

When you click the 'Create account' button, you should be prompted with a box asking why you want to join. Please provide your Quotev URL, or the Quokka username of the user who referred you to the site! Your registration form may not be accepted if you fail to do so. Please also be sure that you are over the age of 15 to join us. You are able to resubmit a form if you are rejected for any reason.

I wasn't a prior Quotev user - can I still join?

Yes! Given that you were referred from someone, just let us know their Quokka username. Don't forget to submit your age when registering !

As this is a fairly new instance (founded early June), registrations may be subject to be closed or limited at any time as we want to make sure our servers can accommodate all users/media sharing etc. Similarly, these rules are subject to change as our community grows.

サーバーに過度な負荷を与える行為について

連投や巨大なフォローリストのインポートなど、サーバーに過度な負荷を与える行為は警告なく中断される場合があり、また、行ったアカウントが停止される場合があります。

なんらかの事情で高負荷をかけてしまうことになりそうだが、どうしても実行したい処理などがある場合は、スタッフまで相談してください。

サブアカウント・アカウント作り直しについて

Mastodon システムは一度取得したアカウント名を使い回すことが出来ない仕様に現在なっていることから、アカウント名を大量に取得するなどの行為は禁止させていただいています。

ただ、サブアカウントの取得そのものを禁じる訳ではありません。良識の範囲内でアカウントを作成してください。

もし、過去の投稿をすべて削除したいだけであればスタッフまで相談してください。お力になれる場合があります。

ボット・プログラムの運用について

過度な負荷を与えるようなボットや、プログラムを運用しないでください。また、発言に反応するボットなどを作成する場合は、自分やほかボットの発言に反応してしまうことで思わず連投してしまうなどの可能性があることを留意の上制作してください。

プロフィールからボットであるバッジを掲出できるので、それらの機能を活用してください。守られていない場合、そのアカウントはサイレンスや停止などの措置をうける場合があります。

Scope and Audience

This policy is for users who have their accounts on deadinsi.de. There is a separate peering policy for deciding when and how to federate with other instances. Generally, for users on the instance a higher standard applies.

Our instance is only available to users for personal use. Accounts with a commercial background should look elsewhere. Promoting your own work is okay, as long as it is not the focus of your account.

Intent and Remedies

Our guiding principle for remedies is that of intent and willingness to correct ones own behavior. It is okay if you fuck up. But we expect you to correct your behavior as soon as we point it out.

  • Use "proper" hashtags so users can filter their content. For example: tagging political commentary with #Politics (or #USPol, #EUPol, etc.) will help folks who don't want to see posts about politics.
  • Content that may be distressing/triggering to others should have content warnings. This would include topics like death, mental health struggles, sexual assault, physical or drug abuse, and the like.
  • You have - and should use - the ability to add alt-text to your images. Image descriptions help folks who are visually impaired better navigate and enjoy the web. It's a great habit to develop! (You can also look into @altbot to generate them for you.)
  
  

Content Policy

Failure to comply with the following may result in warnings, removal of posts from the public timeline, or other account actions - and I have little patience for repeat-offenders.

  Nothing illicit. Don't post or share anything that may be considered (legitimately) illegal in the United States, France, or the country in which you reside.

  Explicit content should be marked as sensitive and/or with content warnings. This includes pornographic/sexual depictions, graphic violence, gore, etc. Explicit content is not allowed in profile or banner images.

  Copyrighted material that is not your own should be credited to its creator or its source - and may be subject to removal upon request by the creator.
  
  
• 
  
  Advertising your projects and/or brands is allowed and encouraged. Using your account solely for that purpose is not. Mass-advertising and overuse of hashtags count as spam, as does excessively posting or boosting posts within a short period of time.

  Do not spread demonstrably false or misleading information, especially if it's intended cause confusion or may endanger others. No scams. No “news” from unreliable or untrustworthy sources.

  AI-generated content should be designated as such - and your account shouldn't just be AI content.

  Warning: I will make every effort to download regular backups of this server, but my efforts alone may not be enough. I highly recommend you archive and export your data regularly to avoid its loss if there's catastrophic failure.
  
  

Moderation

It bears repeating: this is not a "free speech" instance. I have little interest in moderating this place to death, but it will be moderated. You can say what you like, but I don't have to provide the platform for you to say it, especially if it negatively impacts others.

My aim is to strike some balance between freedom of expression and creating a safe and inclusive experience for anyone who calls Revolutionize Social home. That said: the Fediverse is a vast and complicated place – and there are more than a few dark corners.

Don't forget you have the power to block problematic users and instances as you see fit.

If there is or something obscenely disturbing/offensive going on, report it as well so that moderators will be aware and can take action if it's deemed necessary. Reports made in bad faith or to silence legitimate criticism will likely be rejected and deleted without any response.

I am aware that there are Fediverse block lists available, but I’m not inclined to use them at this point, excepting a few of Seirdy's supplemental blocklists.

Do note: Mainstream corporate networks like Threads, Instagram, Medium, Fedica, Flipboard, and Minds - and potentially problematic ones like Truth Social and Gab - are and will be blocked, as will any mirrors and bridges (Birdsite, Bluesky, Nostr, etc.). This doesn't mean you won't be able to share links to these sites (within reason) - just that this server and theirs won't be directly visible to one another.

To prevent abuse, I have chosen not to publish the domain block list on this instance, but it may be provided upon request, depending on who's making the request.

Privacy/Terms

As is the case with pretty much everything online never assume what you do or say is private!

If you're new, be sure to read up on posting to Mastodon to learn about the different privacy options available.

Two warnings:

   Public posts are fair game - and they may end up being used in ways you don't want them to (like against you, to train AI, who knows) and end up in places you don't want them to be (stored on other instances, even after deletion).

   While your browsing may be encrypted via SSL, as it is here, your data is not. Even with the best security measures in place, posts that are followers-only and direct messages can still be accessed by anyone with the right mix of malice, knowledge, and means.
   
   

To increase security, I've disabled the profile directory and enabled authorized fetch. I've also disabled search engine indexing by default. If you want your profile to show in search results, you have the option to enable it in your account settings.

Stewardship

It's easy to be wary of Fediverse instances disappearing overnight. It's happened before.

Being a web host/administrator, I understand what it means to have people relying on me to provide continuity of service and Revolutionize Social is no different.

I am as passionate about this project as I am all my others but I don't know what the future holds. I can say this for sure, though: I will ask for help running this place if I feel I need it and, if it becomes too much for me, I will give plenty of notice before I start winding down.

Should the unthinkable happen, I have trusted individuals who have emergency access to the network, and they will keep it alive for at least a few months while the necessary announcements and arrangements are made to carry on and/or allow its users to migrate to another instance. I've also confirmed that Hugo, our server administrator, has done the same.

Code of conduct

Terms of service

All members of fandom.ink agree that they:

1. will abide by the terms of service and code of conduct, and
2. are prepared and able to use tools provided by the platform to appropriately curate their own experience, within the constraints described below.

Inappropriate behaviour

fandom.ink is a moderated instance. The following behaviours are never tolerated:

1. the aggressive or contemptuous use of derogatory language, offensive comments, dog-whistles, or the use of slurs related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, (dis)ability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, race and ethnicity, religion, or fandom or fannish expression (e.g. "shipwars")
2. expressing or defending derogatory, harmful, and/or contemptuous views of marginalized persons or groups, including in the context of playing "devil's advocate" ("it's not really racist because...")
3. deliberate misgendering or use of "dead" or rejected names
4. threats of violence
5. incitement of violence towards any individual or group, including encouraging a person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm
6. deliberate intimidation
7. sustained disruption of discussion, including the excessive posting of low-value or unrelated content to public timelines (e.g. spam, AI-generated content, intentionally disruptive shitposting, etc.)
8. religious proselytization
9. unwelcome sexual attention, including simulated physical contact
10. continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease
11. publication of an individual's personally identifying information without their consent ("doxxing"), even in situations where that information may be "public" in other forums
12. the linking of an individual's personas, online handles, screen names, or identities, where those links are not well-known, or where the individual has requested they not be linked
13. posting intentionally graphic, shocking, or triggering content without platform-appropriate markings (e.g. CWs, etc.)
14. uncut spoilers in public timelines (i.e. spoilers posted without appropriate CWs, etc.)
15. commercial accounts or accounts that exist primarily to promote commercial businesses.
16. "screenshot dunking" and/or the reposting of content from locked or otherwise non-public sources, done primarily with the intent of shaming, mocking, or harassing individuals.

Adult and erotic content

Adult/erotic content is permitted, under the following caveats:

1. User avatars and profile banner images must be all-ages appropriate.
2. All adult content must be clearly marked, using platform-appropriate tools (e.g. CWs, marking images as "sensitive", etc.), including when posted to private or limited-distribution timelines.
3. Erotic content (e.g. nudity, "sensual" images) is permitted in public timelines, so long as it is clearly marked using platform-appropriate tools.
4. Pornographic content (e.g. depictions of actual sex acts) is not permitted in public timelines.
5. However, linking to erotic or pornographic content (e.g. fic recs, a public buffer/announcement post followed by a thread of unlisted explicit posts, etc.) is permitted in public timelines, with appropriate markings/warnings.

In general, fandom.ink aims to be a sex-positive experience, with a strong opt-in culture for adult content. Note also that adult content on fandom.ink is expected to exist within a primarily fannish context. That is, fanart, fanfic, and so on. Erotica and pornography unrelated to fandom creative works may find a better home on another instance.

Please note that visual depictions of minors in sexual situations are illegal in most jurisdictions, including those in which fandom.ink is hosted and operated from. Accordingly, such content is prohibited under the Terms of Service and we do not federate with instances where it is allowed.

Reposting content

The reposting of unmodified content from the users of other platforms is prohibited. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to: cross-posted Twitter retweets; reposting art; and reposting unmodified screenshots of posts. Linking to and boosting/"re-tooting" original works is encouraged instead.

Note that using screenshots of posts as part of, for e.g., art or memes is generally permitted, so long as it does not violate the terms of service or code of conduct (e.g. is not harassing, doxxing, etc.).

Federation

fandom.ink takes a proactive stance to managing its federation with other servers. At a high-level, instance moderation policies are designed to attempt to prioritise and encourage kind, earnest, and authentic connections between individuals as well as a culture of consent around content and interactions.

To this end, we do not federate with servers that have moderation policies antithetical to ours. These include unmoderated ("free speech") instances, and any instance that tolerates content that is forbidden under the fandom.ink Terms of Service or Code of Conduct.

In addition, large instances and/or instances with a high volume of automated traffic are likely to be silenced.

Please note that, to preserve the safety of our users and the sanity of our admin, the full blocklist is not publicly available.

Reporting

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, see content you believe violates the code of conduct or terms of service, or have any other concerns, please make use of the platform's in-built flagging and reporting tools, or contact an admin at abuse@fandom.ink. Cases will be responded to as promptly as possible.

fandom.ink respects confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse. At our discretion, we may publicly name a person about whom we’ve received harassment complaints, or privately warn third parties about them. We will not name harassment victims without their affirmative consent.

Consequences

Participants asked to stop any behaviour deemed inappropriate by a moderator are expected to comply immediately. Individuals continuing to engage in inappropriate behaviours may be shadowbanned or expelled from fandom.ink. All decisions by the administrator on this issue are final.

This code of conduct is based on Annalee Flower Horne's Sample Slack Code of Conduct, which is in turn based on Geek Feminism's Community Anti-Harassment Policy. It has been adapted for use by fandom.ink under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License.

4. Bots must be marked as such, and must not make posts to public timelines more frequently than once per hour.
5. Accounts auto-crossposted from Twitter or other services may be suspended or limited, without warning, at the administrator's sole discretion.
6. Adult and erotic content must only be posted in conformance to the "Adult and erotic content" section of the Code of Conduct.
7. Inactive accounts (i.e. those that have not been accessed for a period of six months or more) may be deleted, without warning, at the administrator's sole discretion.
8. Be courteous to others. Posting obvious flame-bait to public timelines (e.g. shipwars, nuclear-level takes on the discourse du jour, etc.) may result in content or your account being limited or removed, without warning, at the administrator's sole discretion.
9. Users caught encouraging or teaching others to circumvent instance rules, the code of conduct, or the terms of service will be penalized as if they themselves had performed the violation in question.
10. The reposting of unmodified content from the users of other platforms (e.g. cross-posted retweets, reposted art, etc.) is prohibited. Please link to the original content, instead!
