Instances

This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET).

Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered.

When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it is no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again, or until its last succesful check is one year old; in this latter case, from that moment it gets checked only on the first day of each year.

“Random ordering” of results varies daily.

Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist, sovereignist, pro-nuclear and pedopornographic contents by marking them as noxious.

Reporting Accounts

When reporting accounts, please include a few posts that show rule-breaking behavior, when applicable. If there is any additional context that might help make a decision, please also include it in the comment.

We usually handle reports within 24 hours.

Please note that you are not notified when a report you have made has led to a punitive action, and that not all punitive actions are externally visible. For first time offenses, we may opt to delete offending content, escalating to harsher measures on repeat offenses. The moderation team reserves the right to take any action they deem appropriate, with or without notice.

Terms of Service

a2mi.social is operated by Washtenaw Social LLC.

All users are expected to follow the site rules, and repeated or serious violations will lead to account suspension.

Creation of multiple accounts in order to avoid or evade moderation actions is not allowed. Violations will lead to suspension of all your accounts.

Regardless of your a2mi.social account status:

  • Usage that may undermine users’ security and privacy expectations (like scraping, indexing, or followbots) is not permitted.
  • Usage that enables harassment, abuse, hate speech, spamming, or that enables violation of any other site rule is likewise disallowed.
  • Usage that violates or aims to subvert the server-level moderation policies is not allowed.

Violations may result in suspension of your account, suspension of federation with your server, or network-level blocks, with no warning.

Server-level Moderation

To provide a pleasant space for the community, we block federation at the server level with Mastodon sites known to:

  • Present security or privacy risks
  • Enable hate speech, violent speech, or other violent/hateful ideologies
  • Enable harassment or abuse
  • Propagate dangerous conspiracy theories
  • Tolerate/host content that's illegal in the US
  • Enable spamming
