Instances

This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET).

Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered.

When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it is no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again, or until its last succesful check is one year old; in this latter case, from that moment it gets checked only on the first day of each year.

“Random ordering” of results varies daily.

Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist, sovereignist, pro-nuclear and pedopornographic contents by marking them as noxious.

No AI / ML clause

It is prohibited to use any data or content from the instances listen below for training of or developing any artificial intelligence or machine learning model without obtaining explicit consent from the copyright owner. Any unauthorized use of data or content for AI/ML purposes will be considered a violation of copyright laws and may result in legal action.

Moderated languages

Regardless of political orientation, our moderators try to moderate all posts equally and objectively in accordance with our server rules. Of course, this is only possible for languages that we understand - therefore only German and English are possible as languages on our instances. In case of doubt, we reserve the right to restrict or delete messages in other languages.

Federation with Meta (Facebook) / Instagram

Our servers have preemptively blocked federation with threads.net. This rule might be changed in the future, when we know how threads.net implements federation via ActivityPub and how they act on reports coming from the Fediverse.

This server is run by Mattias Schlenker, represented by lawyer Patrice Castillo, Brandvorwerkstraße 52-54, 04275 Leipzig. Due to the location of the admin in Germany and the location of the server in Germany, German law applies.

Be kind and respect each other.
Contact no one that explicitly stated they do not want to be contacted. Don't stalk, don't doxx.
We do not tolerate Nazi propaganda. We've read Karl Popper.
No porn. Occasional nudity (breastfeeding or naked butts at cold lakes for example) is OK though.

Its current admin is @timotheegoguely, the previous one was @mcpaccard (we both speak French and English), and the current moderators are @rafa (English) and @amxmln (German, English).

Mastodon.design uses a custom theme with the following features:

Responsive 4 columns layout for advanced web interface on desktop

Custom CSS works at the instance level, so if you want to use you own custom CSS, you need to use add-ons like Stylus or Live CSS Editor. For example, you can add .layout-single-column .colums-area__panels { flex-direction: row-reverse } if you prefer to use the single-column layout with the logo and navigation menu on the left, and the search bar and compose form on the right.

Accessibility

Please make sure you caption the images you upload. Image descriptions, also called alternative text or alt text, are text descriptions of an image. These descriptions support people who are blind, have low vision, use assistive technology, live in low-bandwidth areas, or want more context. The goal of writing image descriptions is to be clear and concise, while giving more context to your post. Here’s a list of recommendations for writing great image descriptions:

Be succinct, clear, and detailed
Be objective
Write out or summarize text in images
Watch out for acronyms and abbreviations
Include the image type details
Use regular sentence structure and letter casing
Avoid redundant information

Media size & quality

Please reduce your images’ size and compress them before uploading. Mastodon automatically downscales images to 1.6 megapixels (enough for a 1280×1280 image) 8.3 megapixels (enough for a 3840×2160 image)* and compresses JPEG and PNG with a quality of 90**, but you can often get much better compression by using free tools like Squoosh (web app), TinyJPG (up to 20 images, works for PNG),

glaceon.social is a community of people with diverse interests. This is a general instance with no specific topic you're required to stick to; feel free to talk about whatever! About the only constant is that if someone has an account here, they probably like pokemon at least a little. If that sounds like a good time, welcome to glaceon.social.

Please note that at this time, this is a primarily English-language instance. Unfortunately, I can only effectively moderate a site where the vast majority of posts are in the language I understand. I apologize for the inconvenience.

glaceon.social stores your email address, which is used as your account name to log you in. Your email is not visible to anyone but the administrators of the site. We do not send you email unless you request it.

glaceon.social has no advertising partners. Because of the nature of a federated social network, we share your non-private posts with other servers. However, we do not share your personal data, or aggregated non-personal data, with anyone. We do publish statistical data about the entire body of glaceon.social users as a way for others to measure the health of our instance, but your individual information cannot be extracted from those figures.

Scraping

Each user of glaceon.socail retains all copyright to the original content of posts they make on glaceon.social. You may not make a copy of any other user's posts for any purpose other than the normal functioning of ActivityPub federation and the RSS feeds generated by the Mastodon software of any content originally posted to glaceon.social without acquiring the affirmative consent of the administrator for each post you wish to copy. If you maintain such a copy of any post that originated on glaceon.social, you must regularly check back with the server to determine whether that post has been changed or removed, and you must update your copy or depiction to reflect any changes to the post, or remove your copy or depiction if the post has been removed.

PRINCIPLES

We stand for climate justice, which includes justice for all marginalized people as well as other living beings and we stand against discrimination and exploitation.

We are allies to disabled people, queer and lgbtqia* people, BIPoC, women, poor people, kids and future generations as well as other vulnerable groups including animals, plants and all living beings. We might be critical to religion in general, but stand up against antisemitism, islamomisia and other forms of discrimination due to religious background. We acknowledge our own privileges and work on our own unintentionally discriminatory behaviors. We are all part of an exploitative system and it's impossible to live within that system without harming anyone. We are aware of that and try to work against it, but we are not all fossil free and vegan and that's okay. We don't exclusively post about climate justice, but at least some of our posts should be about climate justice.

We consider ourselves on the left side of the political spectrum and stand up against right wing ideologies.

We have different political views, but are all on the left side or at least are left-open, but right-closed centrists. We stand together against capitalism and fascism and even if we disagree on important issues we don't loose sight of our common goals.

We believe the Fediverse should be a place for respectful discourse and we stand against harassment, trolling and spam.

Everybody's boundaries are to be respected.

We stand up for peace and against violence, oppression and authoritarianism.

We are pacifists, but acknowledge that when attacked, people have the right to defend themselves following international law. We may be critical of states in general, but we never deny any country their statehood. We condemn violence against innocent people and always show solidarity with victims of violence. We don't promote violence in protest, but peaceful sabotage against oppressors is not violence.

We stand behind the science and against fake-news & propaganda.

We are not all scientists ourselves and experts in every field we post about, but we try not to spread any false information. If possible we provide reliable sources. We don't spread unverified rumors. We do not promote harmful technologies like nuclear power, AI or crypto currencies. We don't post anything generated by AI except to enhance acessibility.

when even after multiple hints you completely disregard our guidelines

Welcome to Growers Social!

This server was primarily set up to be a home for all green thumbs. We, unfortunately, will be limiting registrations to manual approval due to spam sign-ups. Generally, this process takes less than 24-48 hours on an average.

When attempting to register please list the reason you would like to join this specific instance that at the very least explains why you would like to join.

E-mails may be delayed when registering, if need be try to resend them as needed. You might also check your spam box for these if they don't show in your inbox.

We tend to delay defederating with other servers as much as possible. We reserve this for truly horrific site content or spam that is harmful to our members or illegal in the United States or where the server is hosted. If we find something it will be removed and you will be warned, if this is among a small subset of content we feel is too bad we will ban you from further use. We leave the nitty gritty up to you to mute out as you choose. This includes threads.net which is *not* suspended here.

We are a like-minded social group, don't feel as though all posts have to be about what you grow. Rather we want to create a small tight-knit community full of social interactions. In addition to grown items please feel free to share your daily life, interesting technologies, pets & animals, and anything that makes you, well you.

Code of Conduct

This document lays out the ground rules for participating in the growers.social community. It is intended to protect all members of our community from harassment and to ensure that our community is as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This is a working document, so the growers.social team may amend this CoC to better meet these goals in the future.

The following guidelines are not a legal document, and the final interpretation is up to the administration of growers.social; they are here to provide you with an insight into our content moderation policies:

The following types of content will be removed from the public timeline:
1. Excessive advertising
2. Uncurated news bots posting from third-party news sources
3. Untagged nudity, pornography, and sexually explicit content, including artistic depictions
4. Untagged gore and extremely graphic violence, including artistic depictions
5. Fake news, anti-vaccination spam
The following types of content will be removed from the public timeline, and may result in account suspension and revocation of access to the service:
1. Racism or advocation of racism
2. Sexism or advocation of sexism
3. Casteism or advocation of casteism
4. Discrimination against gender and sexual minorities, or advocation thereof
5. Xenophobic and/or violent nationalism
The following types of content are explicitly disallowed and will result in revocation of access to the service:
1. Sexual depictions of children
2. Content illegal in the United States
3. Any holocaust denial or Nazi symbolism
4. Conduct promoting the ideology of National Socialism
Any conduct intended to stalk or harass other users, impede other users from utilizing the service, degrade the performance of the service, harass other users, or incite other users to perform any of the aforementioned actions, is also disallowed, and subject to punishment up to and including revocation of access to the service. This includes, but is not limited to, the following behaviors:
1. Continuing to engage in conversation with a user that has specifically requested for said engagement with that user to cease and desist may be considered harassment, regardless of platform-specific privacy tools employed.
2. Aggregating, posting, and/or disseminating a person’s demographic, personal, or private data without express permission (informally called doxing or dropping dox) may be considered harassment.
3. Inciting users to engage another user in continued interaction or discussion after a user has requested for said engagement with that user to cease and desist (informally called brigading or dogpiling) may be considered harassment.

These provisions notwithstanding, the administration of the service reserves the right to revoke any user’s access permissions, at any time, for any reason, except as limited by law.

Goals

Provide a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of the level of experience, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, personal appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, nationality, political affiliation, or other similar characteristics.
Create a supportive community, where people freely share their passions and are excited and positive about each other’s successes.
Provide a venue for casual conversations.

Non-Goals

While it’s important to know what growers.social is, it’s just as important to understand what we’re not. growers.social is not:

A free speech zone. growers.social is a community with specific — and high — standards of behavior. If you want to exercise your full free speech rights, you can do so somewhere else; while on growers.social, you should agree to follow the community rules set out in this CoC and be respectful to fellow fediverse folk.
An advocacy space. There are many important, controversial, and political issues; and advocating for what you believe is important. Remember when making your opinion your posts must remain respectful and violating this your post may be removed at the opinion of the administration team without communications.

Reporting Volations

If you notice a toot that violates this code of conduct, please report it. It is easy to assume that someone else has already reported a toot, but it is easy for everyone to feel that way and no one to report the toot.

No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, or casteism.
No incitement of violence or promotion of violent ideologies.
No harassment, dogpiling, or doxxing of other people.
No illegal content.
Use a content warning when sharing news items or politically related media. We're here to be social and respectful, politics can be an unwieldy beast and we'd really appreciate not dealing with it.
When creating an account here note the service is still small and self-funded. I'm don't soliciting payments for this service and intend to keep this running as best as I can. Service interruptions can happen and in this case, I will try my best to bring everything back online as soon as possible.
