About This Search Engine

This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET).

Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered (if you already have an account on the Fediverse and want to receive one daily post with a summary of the new Mastodon instances that our crawler discovers daily, you can follow @nmiab@kolektiva.social; alternatively, you can also view them here).

When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it is no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again, or until its last succesful check is one year old; in this latter case, from that moment it gets checked only on the first day of each year.

“Random ordering” of results varies daily.

Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist, sovereignist, pro-nuclear and pedopornographic contents by marking them as noxious.

If your instance is behind a web firewall such as Anubis or Cloudflare, and you want it to be listed here, you must configure the firewall to allow our bot, which makes no more than a dozen HTTP requests per day, to connect to your instance, by whitelisting it by User-Agent and/or IP address. Our bot’s User-Agent is mastodon.help; the IP address from which it makes requests is the same as this site’s, 65.108.133.80.

  1. Diese Mastodon-Instanz wird als privates Hobby ohne Garantie für Verfügbarkeit betrieben. Es besteht kein Anspruch auf jederzeit funktionierenden Zugang zum Konto. Downtimes (Updates, Wartung, Migration etc) werden - soweit möglich - vorher angekündigt.
  2. Es ist grundsätzlich jedermensch willkommen, egal welcher politischen, religiösen oder sexuellen Ausrichtung und geschlechtlicher Identität. Bei beleidigendem, diskriminierendem oder schlicht nervtötendem Verhalten werden die Admins (auch ohne Ankündigung) Accounts sanktionieren oder deaktivieren.
  3. Wer meint, Transfrauen seien keine Frauen, wer denkt, man könne als Mann heute ja gar keine Komplimente mehr machen oder wer glaubt, es gäbe "Rassismus gegen Weiße", ist auf dieser Instanz falsch. Diese Instanz ist gedacht als Safe Space. Von diesem Ideal lassen sich die Admins leiten.

We block a number of instances that allow content that is contrary to our rules. The list of blocked instances is available to our registered members.

Instance rules
  1. Take all rules as guidelines and act accordingly. In doubt feel free to address @buggie@serenityos.social, @linusg@serenityos.social or @networkexception@serenityos.social directly. The administrator team always has the last word about enforcement of rules and does not have to explain actions taken.
  2. Do the best you can in communication, try your best to keep a positive attitude, and try to not drag others down if/when you're having a bad day.
  3. No content condoning or advocating for the oppression of members of marginalised groups, or general discrimination of groups based on characteristics like gender, race, disabilities, nationality, education, religion etc.
  4. No harassment, stalking, mobbing, deadnaming, misgendering, contacting users who have made it clear they do not wish to be contacted.
  5. No content that is illegal in Germany.
  6. Unlike on the Discord server, the discussion of politics is explicitly allowed here, but please keep things civil.
  7. Provide credit for creative works that are not your own.
  8. While we do appreciate all kinds of content you post on here, consider other instances for NSFW posts. If you still wish like publishing on here, use descriptive content warnings.
