About This Search Engine

This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET).

Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered (if you already have an account on the Fediverse and want to receive one daily post with a summary of the new Mastodon instances that our crawler discovers daily, you can follow @nmiab@kolektiva.social; alternatively, you can also view them here).

When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it is no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again, or until its last succesful check is one year old; in this latter case, from that moment it gets checked only on the first day of each year.

“Random ordering” of results varies daily.

Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist, sovereignist, pro-nuclear and pedopornographic contents by marking them as noxious.

If you don’t want your instance to show up here, please e-mail us at masthelp[at]insicuri.net.

If your instance is behind a web firewall such as Anubis or Cloudflare, and you want it to be listed here, you must configure the firewall to allow our bot, which makes no more than a dozen HTTP requests per day, to connect to your instance, by whitelisting it by User-Agent and/or IP address. Our bot’s User-Agent is mastodon.help; the IP address from which it makes requests is the same as this site’s, 65.108.133.80.

Sauropods.win is a Mastodon server that has accreted various scientists, artists, and enthusiasts in the area of palaeobiology and zoology. It is an informal place, and may contain ridiculous and completely off-topic conversation.

Sauropods.win is for anyone that can stand a local timeline full of nerdy palaeontology / zoology / arty talk, and who just wants somewhere nice to hang out on the internet.

Social media is at its best when it creates spaces where people can feel comfortable enough to collaborate, share, offer mutual support and just have fun. The core of this community are artists who bring the world of the past to life. So, please also respect the work of artists by asking for permission and using attribution whenever possible. Image descriptions are strongly encouraged (and will make your work more popular.)

If you encounter an obvious troll or anyone breaking the server rules please report it (even if you aren’t the target.) If you are uncertain, report it and leave a clear note about why you are uncertain.

No AI / ML clause

It is prohibited to use any data or content from the instances listen below for training of or developing any artificial intelligence or machine learning model without obtaining explicit consent from the copyright owner. Any unauthorized use of data or content for AI/ML purposes will be considered a violation of copyright laws and may result in legal action.

Moderated languages

Regardless of political orientation, our moderators try to moderate all posts equally and objectively in accordance with our server rules. Of course, this is only possible for languages that we understand - therefore only German and English are possible as languages on our instances. In case of doubt, we reserve the right to restrict or delete messages in other languages.

Federation with Meta (Facebook) / Instagram

Our servers have preemptively blocked federation with threads.net. This rule might be changed in the future, when we know how threads.net implements federation via ActivityPub and how they act on reports coming from the Fediverse.

Our infrastructure is hosted primarily in Germany, as such German laws do apply for the content hosted.

About this Server

This server is hosted via IONOS on a VPS with 8 shared CPU cores, 12GB of RAM and 240GB of SSD storage. Outside of system upgrades or version upgrades, there should be no downtime.

Media is stored on Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage with a current limit of ~1TB.

Backups are run on a weekly basis, provided by DigitalOcean.

Additionally, E-Mail services are currently provided by SendinBlue on the free tier. This heavily limits the volume of E-Mails that can be sent per month, abuse of notifications may lead to warnings and/or account suspension.

  1. Do not break any laws. Use common sense and knowledge of the laws of your country of residence.
  2. Be kind. Discriminatory language based on gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc. is not tolerated.
  3. Be respectful. Do not make your issues with another user public. Either settle it in private or contact a moderator.

  11. Impersonating another individual without a clear indication of parody (i.e. "Parody" as part of the display name) will lead to swift suspension. Furthermore, parody is only permitted for lighthearted fun, mean-spirited mockery will still lead to suspension.
  12. Due to the nature of this instance, any and all users have to be of age in their respective country or at least 18 years old, whichever is higher.

因为国内各种平台上都不知道会遇到什么奇怪的人于是就搭建了，技术小白折腾了两天，刚起步还不知道会不会有人用，就先这样吧。
