1. No spamming. Excessive commercial advertising or commercial postswill be removed from the public timeline. Continued spamming may result in account suspension and revocation of access to the service.
2. Bots require approval from the administrators. Unapproved bots posting from third-party sources will have their content removed from the public timeline and will result in account suspension.
3. Gore and/or extremely graphic violence, including artistic depictions, must be tagged with a content warning and digital media must be marked sensitive. Failure to do so will result in the content being removed from the public timeline.
4. All explicit (NSFW) content must be marked as sensitive and have a content warning. Explicit content must not be used in user avatars or header images. Such "untagged" content will be removed from the public timeline and may result in account suspension and revocation of access to the service.
5. The following types of content will be removed from the public timeline, and will result in account suspension including revocation of access to the service; Racist, Sexist, Homophobic, Transphobic, Xenophobic, Sexual depictions of children.
6. Spreading disinformation or conspiracy theories that undermine public safety and/or health will result in removal of the content from the public timeline and will result in account suspension and revocation of access to the service.

Full Code of Conduct

Plush.city is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.

This code of conduct applies to all Plush.city spaces, including Mastodon and any organizational spaces defined by Plush.city staff, both online and off. Anyone who violates this code of conduct may be sanctioned or expelled from these spaces at the discretion of the Plush.city administrators and moderation team.

Some Plush.city spaces may have additional rules in place, which will be made clearly available to participants. Participants are responsible for knowing and abiding by these rules.

Definitions of Harassment

Harassment includes:

• Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, age, race, or religion.
• Unwelcome comments regarding a person's lifestyle choices and practices, including those related to food, health, parenting, drugs, and employment.
• Deliberate misgendering or use of 'dead' or rejected names.
• Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behaviour in spaces where they're not appropriate.
• Physical contact and simulated physical contact (eg, textual descriptions like "*hug*" or "*backrub*") without consent or after a request to stop.
• Threats of violence.
• Incitement of violence towards any individual, including encouraging a person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm.
• Deliberate intimidation.
• Stalking or following.
• Harassing photography or recording, including logging online activity for harassment purposes.
• Sustained disruption of discussion.
• Unwelcome sexual attention.
• Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others
• Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease.
• Deliberate "outing" of any aspect of a person's identity without their consent except as necessary to protect vulnerable people from intentional abuse.
• Publication of non-harassing private communication.

Plush.city prioritizes marginalized people's safety over privileged people's comfort. Plush.city administrators and moderation team reserves the right not to act on complaints regarding:

• 'Reverse' -isms, including 'reverse racism,' 'reverse sexism,' and 'cisphobia'
• Reasonable communication of boundaries, such as "leave me alone," "go away," or "I'm not discussing this with you."
• Communicating in a 'tone' you don't find congenial
• Criticizing racist, sexist, cissexist, or otherwise oppressive behavior or assumptions

Members of Law Enforcement

Plush.city as a space is primarily inhabited by minority communities who are frequently and have historically been the victims of violence, harassment and unfair treatment by members of law enforcement, military personelle and their allies and affiliates.

As such, Access to this service or its content by members of law enforcement (or military personelle or their allies or affiliates) is strictly forbidden.

This includes (but is not limited to): Law Enforcement Officers / Police Officers / Peace Officers, The FBI, CIA, or NSA, The US Military (inclusive of all branches), Active Military Personelle, and any organization or individual affiliated with any of the above.

Your Account

Accounts on plush.city are expected to be created with the intention of interacting with the community in some way. We will suspend user accounts which do not demonstrate good faith efforts to do so within a week of account creation. This process will be expedited for accounts which do not appear to be organic (as in, created directly by a sentient intelligence), or were created from points of origin registered to non-consumer-serving commercial entities.

Content Warnings and Sensitive Images

Content Warnings (CWs) are a feature of Mastodon that enable you to hide the body of a "toot" (post) behind a line of text. The intended use of this feature is to provide a way to discuss sensitive and/or potentially harmful topics without causing duress or harm to anyone who might stumble upon it, though it may be used for many other things.

Images can be marked as sensitive; this is a feature which hides an image until a warning banner is clicked. Images may be marked as sensitive separately from Content Warnings, though using a Content Warning automatically marks the toot's images as sensitive.

Clearly communicated and accurately labeled content warnings and sensitive image settings are required when having public conversations involving any of the following topics or content:

• Sexual or Adult content
• Detailed descriptions of harassment as outlined above in the definitions of harassment
• Political Commentary of any kind
• Drugs or Drug Use
• Advertisements for Corporations
• "Rage" toots and Toots using exclusively capital letters
• Excessively Long Toots (longer than ~20 lines)

Reporting

If you are being harassed by a member of Plush.city, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact the Plush.city administrators and moderation team using the Report User/Toot feature or via email to Mawr directly at solei@corticalstack.net. If the person who is harassing you is on the team, they will recuse themselves from handling your incident. We will respond as promptly as we can.

This code of conduct applies to Plush.city spaces, but if you are being harassed by a member of Plush.city outside our spaces, we still want to know about it. We will take all good-faith reports of harassment by Plush.city members, especially Plush.city's administrators and moderation team, seriously. This includes harassment outside our spaces and harassment that took place at any point in time. The abuse team reserves the right to exclude people from Plush.city based on their past behavior, including behavior outside Plush.city spaces and behavior towards people who are not in Plush.city.

In order to protect volunteers from abuse and burnout, we reserve the right to reject any report we believe to have been made in bad faith. Reports intended to silence legitimate criticism may be deleted without response.

We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse. At our discretion, we may publicly name a person about whom we've received harassment complaints, or privately warn third parties about them, if we believe that doing so will increase the safety of Plush.city members or the general public. We will not name harassment victims without their affirmative consent.

Consequences

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, Plush.city administrators and moderation team may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from all Plush.city spaces and identification of the participant as a harasser to other Plush.city members or the general public.

Participants (or parties interacting with participants) who violate the code outlined above will be warned where applicable. When a warning does not result in adequate correction within a reasonable timeframe (or in cases where moderation deems a warning unwarranted) the offender will be suspended from the instance.

It is pronounce "glamorous" as our work are often charmingly or fascinatingly attractive, especially in a mysterious or magical way. Sometimes it is also full of excitement, adventure, and unusual activity (oh, yes). It is also inspired by Toys'R'us to showcase the fun playful side of glammr.us tooters. Many of us are looking for an inclusive and community supported approach to social media.

We may give warnings for behaviors such as disruption of discussions, but breaking many of our Don'ts will result in immediate account suspension.

• Post your blog post, code snippet, article, book chapter, presentation
• Ask for help
• Post pictures of your food, cat, dog, baby, signage, face. Show us the awesome/boring/terrible thing on your desk right now.
• Use descriptive text on your images
• Credit the images and art you share (ideally with a link)
• Add CWs (content warnings) to your posts liberally: label talks about politics or hate incidents, listserv commentary, rants, spoilers of TV shows, etc. CWs are metadata. We love metadata! (see FAQ for more about CWs)

Strongly Recommended Content Warnings

We strongly recommend considering content warnings when posting Public toots which will appear on the Local Timeline. In particular, we strongly recommend content warnings for following topics:

• Hate incidents
• National/state/electoral politics
• Gun violence
• Photographs of insects and other commonly-unsettling animals (snakes, spiders, just consider your audience)

A moderator may contact you and request you re-post a Public post under a CW. See Understanding and Using CWs for other suggestions of commonly-CWd topics.

Required Content Warnings

• Graphic violent or sexual content without a content warning
• Gratuitous advertizing or spam. It's fine to promote your work, but it shouldn't be the bulk of what you share.

Guidance for Institutional Accounts

Mastodon supports 4 levels of posting visibility: public, unlocked (also called unlisted), locked (followers-only), and private (DM). For institutional accounts we recommend making the first post of a thread public and the subsequent posts unlocked. Anyone who clicks the thread can still see the whole thread of unlocked posts, whether they follow you or not, and anyone can boost (RT) them to share with all their followers. All your public, unlocked, and locked (followers-only) posts will also go to all your followers and we have no concerns about how frequently institutions post on unlocked/locked. To make this easier, consider going to post visibility settings and choose "Unlisted" posting privacy as default.

Live Posting Conferences

If live-posting conference or presentation commentary to the Local TL, we recommend threading your posts with the first post Public, using the conference hashtag, and the rest unlocked. This will allow others to find your thread but avoid overwhelming other users who don’t have the context for your conference posts.

Known Harassers

The admins may ban or silence users whom we know to be harassers or abusers, even if they have not violated the rules of this instance. The mere presence of a harasser can make past or potential victims uncomfortable, and it can put potential victims who are unaware of the person's history in particular danger. Users are encouraged to individually mute, block, and/or report accounts they don't want to see, but at our discretion, we may take the additional step of blocking or silencing someone instance-wide if we believe they endanger the safe and welcoming space we're trying to maintain.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact the admins. They'll respond as promptly as they can.

Moderators

The current admins are:

Understanding and Using CWs

Mastodon offers content warnings, which allow one to post about topics while giving others an informed opportunity to decide whether or not to read your posts. Think of them as metadata for your post. Unlike hashtags, which are another great way to find or filter data (and you can use both!), CWs allow the reader to make a choice before viewing something which they may find distressing (such as racist imagery or political trends which threaten their health/job/family/friends) or ordinary things they may or may not want to see "health" or "lewd" or "rant/whine" posts. CWs are especially important on public posts, since we all use the Local timeline. Some people write very descriptive CWs. Others use shorthands popular in the Mastodon community. Common examples of CWd topics and common shorthands:

• Politics: "pol" with a country prefix such "uspol," "ukpol" or more specific clarifications, such as "politics, funding" or "politics shutdown" or "politics, 45"
• Examples of hate speech by politicians/colleagues/family/students/etc.: "Hate speech" "nazis" "fascism" "antifacism" "racism" "transphobia" "white supremacist fliers"
• Sexually explicit: common shorthands include "lewd," "kink," "PDA"
• Mental health/suicidal ideation: common abbreviations include "mh+" (good mental health stuff), "mh-" (negative mental health), "suicide"/"sui"
• Food/alcohol/drugs/meds: generally just noting the content.
• Eye-contact selfies: some mastodon users place selfies under "eye contact" if the poster is making eye contact with the viewer.
• Content types: "rant" "long" "whine" "spoilers"

An excellent longer-form CW example from 2018-01-22 would be "nazis on campus, everyday antifacism," which conveys that the post both talks about an incident with nazis on campus and the response to it.

Please also keep in mind, that all posts to Public appear in the Local timeline and Mastodon allows you to make some posts Followers-Only or Unlisted. On the other hand, if you see someone posting material which disturbs you without CWs in the main timeline, Mastodon’s mute function will mean you don’t see them. Filters can remove all posts containing a term (CWd and non-CWd) from your feeds.
