About This Search Engine

This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET).

Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered (if you already have an account on the Fediverse and want to receive one daily post with a summary of the new Mastodon instances that our crawler discovers daily, you can follow @nmiab@kolektiva.social; alternatively, you can also view them here).

When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it is no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again, or until its last succesful check is one year old; in this latter case, from that moment it gets checked only on the first day of each year.

“Random ordering” of results varies daily.

Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist, sovereignist, pro-nuclear and pedopornographic contents by marking them as noxious.

If your instance is behind a web firewall such as Anubis or Cloudflare, and you want it to be listed here, you must configure the firewall to allow our bot, which makes no more than a dozen HTTP requests per day, to connect to your instance, by whitelisting it by User-Agent and/or IP address. Our bot’s User-Agent is mastodon.help; the IP address from which it makes requests is the same as this site’s, 65.108.133.80.

We are building a decentralized social gaming hub for gamers and developers from around the world. We welcome you to post about your other interests as well. Our team is excited to have you join us and we look forward to seeing your posts on the Fediverse!

Sign-ups to this instance are by application only to help prevent bot account creation and to foster a healthy community. For these reasons, please provide a detailed reason you want to join, in English, on your application. It is our top priority that this is a safe and friendly space for gamers, developers, streamers, and content creators from all walks of life.

Migrating from another instance:

Create a new account on the server (mstdn.games).

On the new account:

Go to preferences -> Moving from a different account. Enter the handle of the old account. Click Create alias.

On your existing account:

Go to preferences -> import/export -> data export Download the CSV file called "Follows" Go to preferences -> account -> Move to a different account. Enter the handle of the new account and the current account password. Click Move Followers.

On the new account:

Go to preferences -> import/export -> data import. Choose the Follows file you downloaded previously.

Click Upload.

It will potentially take a little while for all followers to migrate across.

Azrak Social is a general purpose Mastodon instance run by Azrak Group in the United Kingdom.

Age verification

You need to confirm you are 18 or over to create an account.

This is a UK legal requirement under the Online Safety Act, not a policy of ours.

We do it in the way that gives away the least. Your device confirms your age and tells us one thing: whether you are over 18. We do not receive your date of birth, your name, or which document you used. We never see or store an ID, and there is no face scan or selfie check. You verify once with Apple, and we get a yes or a no.

Azrak builds on Apple platforms, so that is what we support first and support properly. Verification on other devices is on the way.

What to expect

  • Privacy-first defaults, with no tracking and no data resale
  • UK hosting, on infrastructure we operate ourselves
  • Moderation that is applied consistently and can be appealed
