This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET).

Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered.

When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it is no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again, or until its last succesful check is one year old; in this latter case, from that moment it gets checked only on the first day of each year.

“Random ordering” of results varies daily.

Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist, sovereignist, pro-nuclear and pedopornographic contents by marking them as noxious.

Shakedown Social is a community for live music fans with roots in the jam scene. Fans of bands like Phish, Goose, the Grateful Dead, Billy Strings, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Umphrey's McGee, the Disco Biscuits and more all gather here.

Shakedown is run by a team of volunteers (led by @clifff and @sethadam1) and funded by donations. You can help cover the cost of hosting by donating here. All donations go directly to hosting costs.

Mastodon Server Covenant

We are committed to the Mastodon Server Covenant, which includes:

  • Active moderation against racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia.
  • Our user data is backed up daily.
  • Multiple people have emergency access to the server infrastructure.
  • Users will be provided with at least 3 months of advance warning in case of shutting down.

Servers are hosted at Linode and hosting costs are around $300/month.

Hello! This is a general purpose Mastodon instance hosted by @wintburr that runs on the Chuckya fork. We, the Admins and Moderators, will try to run things as openly and transparently as possible, and users are more than encouraged to suggest changes and bring up issues with the service.

Our "branding" (the assets used in the button, our instance's banner, and our favicon) were made by @meatsmall@oomfie.city!

While it's not guaranteed, the Admin will try to maintain stability and minimize downtime. The historical downtime can be seen on the instance's fediverse.observer page.

Please note that we do not take responsibility for any content originating from other instances which gets hosted on Oomfie City, as monitoring every federated post would be impossible, but we will take action if anything that goes against our rules gets reported to us. However, if you believe something outside of Oomfie City should be deleted, it needs to be brought up with the moderators of the instance hosting it, who will take action in accordance with their rules and policies.

Finally, we will try and block scraping of this instance whenever possible, in particular scraping made by corporations who train their Machine Learning/"Artificial Intelligence" models on data from the Internet. Being used as training data should be opt-in, not opt-out. This means we do not allow scraping of this instance, and any entity which would do so would be illegally copying and reproducing content from this instance.

This instance is moderated and managed by


Contacting the moderators is preferably done via the shared @FeatheredServices account. The account is also used for announcements and information about both oomfie.city (and it's sister instance), as well as the other services hosted by Wintburr under the Feathered and Oomfie.City domain names.

Please also note that reports and actions taken are handled at the discretion of the moderators, and thus might not always fully reflect what the instance allows, or any actions that get taken in the future. To clarify, this does not mean that anyone can get away with breaking the rules or get banned for no reason, of course. Action taken is decided with the context of the offending content in mind, and as such For example, saying slurs is not allowed, but a user is allowed to say slurs they can reclaim if used in a non-derogatory. At the same time, action can be taken if said user fails to accommodate to the wishes of other users (as in, for example, adding content warnings on posts featuring them, or not using them around someone, if requested.)

Additional information

Oomfie City has a discord server! It's meant to be a secondary platform for users as well as visitors to connect with each other in a more... "not federated" way, so to speak. Everyone is welcome to come chill and hang out!

While it is highly unlikely, if the instance was to be shut down, the @FeatheredServices account would be used to communicate it at least two months in advance, and Mastodon's Announcements tool would be used as well, to ensure that no user is unaware of the shutdown.

Finally, users are able to tip the instance's owner through their Stripe page, or through their Ko-fi page, although it is not needed since hosting is cheap. The tips will let the sysadmin afford some donuts as treats though. Thank you :)

Hello! I know there's other excellent fannish instances out there like fandom.ink and federatedfandom.net, but no one else seems to have set up a glitch-soc instance yet. Glitch-Soc is a bit more experimental with more features in exchange for slightly less stability.

I have set some basic ground rules below, but I encourage everyone to be kind and generous with everyone else. If there are issues, a mod will talk with you first before any other action is taken, but mods reserve the right to take any action they deem necessary.

On this instance, it's run according to how I want it to run. This doesn't mean it's an unfriendly place or that I rule with an iron fist, it just means that I'm the sole staff person, and that will always be the case. And for rules, they're extremely loose because I like giving people tools to curate their own feeds as opposed to trying to manage everyone's feeds for them. That being said, I'll give you a quick idea of what sort of things I'm looking to keep off the local and federated feeds here so you can know in advance if you'll fit in or not. - No Nazis, or really any pro fascist, nationalistic hate rhetoric that exists out there - We're queer friendly here, so any bigots can find themselves the door out of here - You would think I could just put, "no racism" here, but a lot of people haven't figured out how to do that yet so I need to say a bit more about it. I'm a white guy, and for some that's an understandable dealbreaker (no hard feelings), but for others I want to stress that I'm gonna do whatever I can to make sure you're comfortable here within reason. If an instance is harassing you repeatedly, they're gone if you let me know. My bullshit capacity is at a all time low. If an instance doesn't want to action their users for their racist bullshit, then I'm not gonna host them here. If it's coming from one of the users here, they're gone. I'm no nonsense and not here to play games or debate those sort of folks. If it bugs you, it'll probably bug me and I'm gonna take care of it regardless of consequences. I don't give a shit about fediverse relationships. - That being said, if you're someone who tends to get into a lot of petty internet spats, and want someone to look out for you on the home instance, you might want to keep looking. I'm not gonna tolerate any user harassing users of different instances or repeatedly getting into fights with people. I have no issues kicking you out if I'm getting a lot of reports about your behavior. If you're the one being harassed however, and it's clearly evident, I will take action for you in that case. - I have a pretty lax policy when it comes to content warnings. I don't strictly enforce users to use them, but I do encourage people to use them when posting anything that could be potentially triggering for someone. I advocate users using their judgement here, and expect people to use CWs appropriately. I will not force people to use them. I am not omnipresent and don't particularly wish to try to be, so if you see a user not tagging something that is triggering you, I would ask that you just mute them. - Speaking of muting people, I really do stress the features given to you by the platform. Instead of posting something you know will start an argument with someone, just block them instead. An entire instance of shitposters is bugging you? Block the whole instance on your own instead of asking me to defederate with them or starting shit with them. I'm not here to manage your feeds when people are annoying or tasteless. - Really, just use common sense. If you act like an adult and treat other people like adults, you'll have no issues here.
