The world can be a unforgiving at times so why not have a little fun interacting with others. Having in depth conversation, asking (or giving) advice and even share those memes. Whatever helps you to navigate through life just that little bit better.

You are absolutely free to come join the instance and embark on journey into the fediverse.

We do not limit registration based on language or location, please keep in mind that this instance is hosted in the EU so your experience may vary.

As a general-purpose instance, we do not have heavy moderation in terms of what topics people are allowed to post about and while freedom of expression is indeed a foundational right and as such it is essential for the enjoyment and protection of all human rights, it is not absolute.

All users are expected to follow our rules at all times, and generally be nice and friendly to everyone on the instance as well as those within the wider federated network.

Please report all content you see which might violate our rules for evaluation. If you are on a remote server, please forward any reports of our users to our server for our moderators to take action (where deemed necessary). Every report received will remain confidential and will not be used for any form of retribution against the reporter nor their instance.

Any perceived inaction must not be taken as an endorsement or that we hold the same belief/opinion.

Complaints about content are best reported through Mastodon's reporting features, be that on the web site or through third party applications. This creates an audit trail.

The decision made by the moderators is final. It is a privilege to use this service, and not a right.

Handling Illegal Content

The moderation team treats illegal content with the utmost gravity. When made aware of the presence of illegal content, through Mastodon's reporting features, or third party app reporting features, or through our contact email address, assist@chaotic.fun, we will take this down at the earliest opportunity.

The ChaoticFun Mastodon instance does not use proactive technology to detect illegal content.

We include specific provisions for the following types of content.

Terrorism Content

The type of content defined under Online Safety Act 2023, Schedule 5 will be taken down immediately, and will result in immediate and permanent revocation of access to the service. Where possible, the offending account will also be reported to law enforcement.

CSEA Content

The type of content defined under Online Safety Act 2023, Schedule 6 will be taken down immediately, and will result in immediate and permanent revocation of access to the service. Where possible, the offending account will also be reported to law enforcement.

Priority Illegal Content

The type of content defined under Online Safety Act 2023, Schedule 7 will be taken down immediately, and will result in immediate and permanent revocation of access to the service. Where possible, the offending account will also be reported to law enforcement.

While Private Mentions (aka Direct Mentions/Messaging) are private between you & the recipients, they aren't end to end encrypted.

Governance

While the day to day operations are the responsibility of the Moderation Team, the instance is governed by those who use and support it.

As the instance grows, requests/suggestions etc can be submitted to help shape our future within our own little community as well as the wider fediverse.
