This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET).

Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered.

When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it is no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again, or until its last succesful check is one year old; in this latter case, from that moment it gets checked only on the first day of each year.

“Random ordering” of results varies daily.

Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist, sovereignist, pro-nuclear and pedopornographic contents by marking them as noxious.

Blimpstodon, at blimps.xyz, is a Mastodon instance for inflation, inflatables, and generally swell critter lovers!

Blimpstodon is not a commercial group or entity, and currently is funded by myself (Kay) with help from donations from users like you. Every bit is greatly appreciated to help towards monthly infra expenses! 🎈🧡 You can donate at the Ko-Fi ^.^ I hope y'all have a good time!

If you know someone on here already, feel free to ask them for an invite! You may also request an account, with a reason supplied! Likewise, if you're an existing user and want a friend on here, feel free to invite them!

We try to be lighthearted, literally and figuratively, but in order to do so, we need to lay down a few rules to make sure everyone has a swell time.

Rules

  1. You must be 18 years of age or older
    While we don't only serve adult content, this side of online communities has a strong adult focus. To ensure everyone's safety and well-being, minors are not permitted an account on blimps.xyz and if we find out you're lying your account will be suspended. You MAY be granted access again once you turn 18. If we find out you're dodging through another account, or lie that you're 18 after being reinstated, you will be permanently suspended from access.
  2. Be respectful
    Treat everyone on this and other instances with respect. We're definitely on the furrier side of things, so while I won't say "treat others like (I hope) you'd treat your mother", you get the idea.
  3. No bigotry
    Like "Be nice", racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, and any and all forms of bigotry will not be tolerated, period. The furry community is meant to be welcoming to folks, not exclusive.
  4. Tag NSFW content as such
    While there is plenty of NSFW/adult content that this community can encompass, I expect everyone to use the Content Warning features of Mastodon to flag it as such to prevent automatically loading on others. If you will post it quite frequently, and don't wish to use the flags, you must set your account to locked when registering. We will use a three strikes system.
  5. Zero tolerance for attacks
    Repeating, there is zero tolerance for bigotry and personal insults. First offenders will have their toot moderated and given a final warning. Second offense is a ban from the instance.
  6. Report inappropriate behavior
    One of the great features for Mastodon is the ease of moderation in communities. Blimps.xyz expects all users to report any activity that violates the rules using the features built in to Mastodon for moderation and review. Use it!
  7. No spam
    This is somewhat self-explanatory but is also further outlined below. We have a zero tolerance policy for any spam or abuse of this instance and will restrict or remove your account for spam. Don't blast messages like crazy, restrict advertising to legitimate recommendations only.
  8. No doxing
    This counts as a personal attack and will not be tolerated. Blimps.xyz only collects information as outlined in our privacy policy, and will not release IPs or private information about users. You may not either. This is a zero-tolerance policy.

  3. Spam filtering Our moderators can review all toots and filter out messages that appear to be spam. We may also report incoming email as spam. This can result in IP addresses and domain names being blacklisted.
  4. Spam filtering issues No message filtering system is 100% accurate, and from time to time legitimate messages will be filtered out by our systems. If you believe that a legitimate message you have sent has been filtered out by our systems, please advise the message recipient by another means or contact a moderator for assistance. You can reduce the risk of a message being caught by the spam filters by:

    • avoiding the terminology and text styling typically used by spammers
    • ensuring that your messages do not contain attachments or links to malware or infected websites

  5. User spam We provide a facility that enables users to send federated messages (toots) to others. Users must not use our messaging facility or any of our other services to store, copy, send, relay or distribute spam.
  6. Receipt of unwanted messages from us In the unlikely event that you receive any message from us or sent using our systems that may be considered to be spam, please contact us by reporting the toot in question or messaging one of the moderation team.
  7. Variation We may amend this policy at any time by publishing a new version on our website.
Instance rules
  1. You must be 18 years of age or older. No exceptions will be granted for "age of consent" or similar for your region. If discovered a minor, your account will be suspended.
  2. No bigotry is permitted. We do not tolerate hate speech of any kind, including transphobia, homophobia, Islamophobia, or any other facet of one's being.
  3. Be respectful: Treat others with respect. Assume good faith with everything. Text has limited ability to convey intent; be kind with yours.
  4. NSFW or kink-driven content must be behind a CW giving a short summary of the content (e.g. "NSFW Art, inflation"), while ensuring media is marked as 'sensitive'
  5. Zero tolerance for attacks. Harassing other users, whether on this instance or another, is cause for immediate suspension of your account.
  6. Copyrighted content may only be shared in fair use contexts. Basically, if it would earn a DMCA takedown request filed against us, don't post it directly.
  7. Take care in sharing sensitive information. While the admins here simply don't have the time nor interest to pry in the database, law enforcement could still have access as your messages are not encrypted at rest, same as nearly all other platforms. When in doubt, use a private messaging platform.

Long description
Squawk.social was built with the idea of allowing a "nest" for avians of all kinds! The nice part is you can still freely interact with other servers that have closed registrations, so you won't be missing out on anything or anyone.

Feel free to join and invite friends. If I close registration, that is only temporary and would only be because of a needed server upgrade or an absolute emergency. I do not plan on ever running ads, I want this server to be free to use and ad-free. If this server becomes too much of a financial burden, I might open optional donations, but I would REALLY prefer not to.

If you want custom emoji, shoot me a message! I can see about getting yours added in.

Please know, this server does allow NSFW content behind content warnings. As such, this server cannot accept users under the age of 18 years old to join.

Server Info: Hosted in OVHCloud (2vCPU, 4GB) BackBlaze used for media storage CloudFlare used as CDN for BackBlaze Backups to off-site physical server every 3 hours. (Then backed up again to cloud)

This is a small instance for me and a bunch of peers. I'm going to treat this like my personal mail server which i am running for a couple of years now and intend to do so for as long as i am using mail. Nonetheless i can not guarantee uptime or data consistency. If you still want to join, you'll need an invite from a user of this instance.

Please report behaviour that bothers you. That includes behaviour from other instances - we have no problem with stopping to federate with asshole instances, or suspend contact with single accounts.

atx.pub is a server for Austinites, people who used to be Austinites, people who want to be Austinites, or want to visit Austin. Honestly, all are welcome, we just wanted a place with a higher-than-normal density of Austin-related posts and people.
Instance rules
  1. Don't be a dick. If you screw up and get called out on it, apologize and move on, and try to learn from it. This one is vague, but as the Supreme Court said, "I know it when I see it." Similarly, try not to take deep offense easily. Reasonable people can disagree without violating this rule.
  2. No spam or advertising. You may promote yourself and causes you care about, but keep it reasonable.
  3. Please make use of content warnings (CW's) where appropriate. Things that should definitely get CWs (but not limited to): violence, trauma, imagery associated with those. Things you can CW (but shouldn't feel pressured to): politics, media, sports?
  4. Absolutely no: bigotry; racism; misogyny; xenophobia; discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual preferences, body type. (See Rule 1)
  5. No advocacy of violence or inciting violence, including harassment. This one will get you banned quickly.
  6. No commercial bots, follow bots, or any bots that annoy the admins of this instance. If you want to point a bot at us, please make it useful or something that elevates discourse.
  7. No stalking or harassment.
  8. Represent Austin well when interacting with the rest of the fediverse. If we get legitimate complaints about a user here from another admin, we will most likely take action to avoid being defederated.
