This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET).

Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered.

When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it is no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again, or until its last succesful check is one year old; in this latter case, from that moment it gets checked only on the first day of each year.

“Random ordering” of results varies daily.

Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist, sovereignist, pro-nuclear and pedopornographic contents by marking them as noxious.

History

@echoz first got the idea when more of his friends on Twitter started using Mastodon. Upon seeing how it worked by federating across multiple instances, a slight twinge of nostalgia was felt. It seemed like it was a worthwhile endeavor to try and setup a local instance for Singaporeans to connect from and to build a local community that also participates in the greater Fediverse.

What came next was a few days of trying to figure out a name for the place and credit must be given to mrbrown for the name, as obvious as it may be. The fact that Armenia had a TLD that ended in .am also definitely helped a lot.

@lxcid took on the task of setting up the various components of Mastodon on the Google Cloud Platform since he had the most experience there.

We have plans to enrich the experience here so stay tuned for that!

At this point in time, we are currently not looking for a moderation team but are always open to suggestions for how to improve this instance.

In the interest of transparency as to how reliable and real this is, we're listing some of our costs as this gets brought up. It will be updated as we have more information as we add more users and run our projections

retro.pizza is a poly-fandom nerd culture server where we strive to uphold the values of the fictional heroes we admire: to value diversity like the X-Men, to be as kind as the Doctor, to defend the weak like Optimus Prime and fight against fascism like Princess Leia.

This is a queer-run instance, and while that's not the "theme", it is moderated accordingly. A Director's Cut version of the rules can be found HERE You don't have to read it, but you should, because I like to think some of the writing is kind of clever.

Our server logo art uses a background from Freepik, text generated by Text Studio, pizza from Melting Pot Pizza, and is based on an original concept by @triphazard.

We are hosted by toot.io's hosting service for maximum stability and uptime! You can check their account for service updates.
Instance rules
  1. MOST IMPORTANTLY: No Nazis, no TERFs, no hate speech, no homophobia, no transphobia, no racism, no misogyny, no antisemitism, no Q bullshit. No, anti-hate speech it not itself a kind of hate speech.
  2. Use a Content Warning (CW) for adult/NSFW content, spoilers, discussions of potentially upsetting/stressful political events, and subjects likely to be upsetting/traumatic (i.e. suicide) or trigger a common phobia. Read the Director's Cut for specifics.
  3. Bots are fine so long as they're contributing something fun to the community and marked using the "This is a bot" checkbox in their profile.
  4. Advertising is only allowed for personal projects (i.e. podcasts, YouTube channels, Twitch streams, personal shops, etc.). It is also ENCOURAGED for personal projects -- show off your stuff!

Willkommen bei subversive.zone!

Selbstverständnis

Subversive.Zone hat das Ziel, eine überwiegend deutschsprachige Mastodoninstanz für Menschen mit emanzipatorischem Anspruch zu sein. Wir möchten nicht „die eine Instanz“ sein, sondern sehen uns als Teil eines losen Netzwerks mit anderen emanzipatorischen und antiautoritäten Instanzen.

Emanzipatorische Werte wollen wir bereits jetzt aktiv leben, anstatt darauf zu warten, dass sie sich mit „der Revolution oder dem Ende des Kapitalismus“ schon von selbst einstellen und sie bis dahin unterzuordnen.

Wir legen einen Fokus auf Zugänglichkeit und nutzen die Werkzeuge, die Mastodon hierfür bereitstellt, wie Bildbeschreibungen und Inhaltswarnungen.

Weiterhin dulden wir keine Transfeindlichkeit und Sexarbeiter:innenfeindlichkeit sowie kein Eintreten für Autoritarismus, Nationalismus oder Antisemitismus.

Vtuber House is a Mastodon instance whose topic is vtubers--content creators who use a digital avatar to represent themselves in their work! We're open to all varieties: 2D, 3D, PNG, pre-debut; streamers on Twitch, YouTube, or elsewhere; lewd or all-ages; artists, coders, and riggers who support the vtuber space; even vtuber fans who aren't content creators themselves. This instance is LGBTQIA+ friendly, celebrating vtubing as a hobby that helps people express themselves with an uncommon degree of freedom!

Mastodon is a microblogging platform that's federated, meaning no one corporation or billionaire controls or owns the data throughout the network, and users on many different servers can communicate with one another.

Vtuber House aims to be a cozy, hobbyist space. This is and will not be a high-population instance, and we silence some of the biggest, noisiest federated servers. We hope you'll grow and thrive here, but our focus isn't on reach. Instead, the goal is to help you get to know your fellow vtubers and fans well, with plenty of opportunities to collaborate and support one another!
