Elekk is a Mastodon instance by gamers, for gamers. Games of any type are welcome here - computer games, console games, tabletop games, etc. - as well as game development of any kind. Whether you make games, play games, or some of both, this is the place for you.

EXCEPT: the ideologies of Gamergate and the alt-right are unconditionally unwelcome here. This is an actively diverse and feminist space, and GG and the alt-right are a rejection of that. Any harassment or posts that represent GG or the alt-right, in the sole judgment of the administration, will be removed and may result in suspension of your account.

Elekk is not hosted in the EU and does not recognize the authority of the EU to govern the internet.

Guidelines

The following guidelines are not a legal document, and final interpretation is up to the administration of Elekk.xyz. They are here to provide you with insight into our philosophy and content moderation policies.

As a courtesy, if you post images to Elekk that you didn't create, please include credit to the creator, and preferably a link to the image's source.

Accounts that automate their posting, including but not limited to bots and cross-posters from other social media, should mark automated posts as Unlisted instead of Public, unless you have the explicit consent of the administrators.

The following types of content may be removed from the public timeline at the discretion of the moderator.

• Excessive advertising
• Uncurated news bots posting from third-party news sources
• Untagged nudity, pornography and sexually explicit content, including artistic depictions
• Untagged gore and extremely graphic violence, including artistic depictions
• Deliberately inflammatory content with the intent to trigger or hurt others, at the discretion of administration.

The following types of content will be removed from the public timeline, and may result in account suspension and revocation of access to the service.

• Racism or advocation of racism
• Sexism or advocation of sexism
• Discrimination against gender and sexual minorities, or advocation thereof
• Xenophobic and/or violent nationalism

The following types of content are explicitly disallowed and will result in revocation of access to the service.

• Sexual depictions of children
• Content illegal in Germany and/or France, such as holocaust denial or Nazi symbolism
• Conduct promoting the ideology of National Socialism (i.e. the Nazi party), the political far or "alt"-right, or Gamergate
• Content illegal in the United States

Any conduct intended to stalk other users, or to impede other users from utilizing the service, or to degrade the performance of the service, or to harass other users, or to incite other users to perform any of the aforementioned actions, identified at the sole discretion of the administrator and moderators, is also disallowed, and subject to action up to and including revocation of access to the service. This includes, but is not limited to, the following behaviors:

• Continuing to engage in conversation with a user that has specifically has requested for said engagement with that user to cease and desist may be considered harassment, regardless of platform-specific privacy tools employed.
• Aggregating, posting, and/or disseminating a person's demographic, personal, or private data without express permission (informally called doxing or dropping dox) may be considered harassment.
• Inciting users to engage another user in continued interaction or discussion after a user has requested for said engagement with that user to cease and desist (informally called brigading or dogpiling) may be considered harassment.

These provisions notwithstanding, the administration of the service reserves the right to revoke any user's access permissions, at any time, for any reason, except as limited by law.

This instance might use Mutant Standard emoji made by Dzuk, which are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. I'm honestly not sure whether or not we do, but it never hurts to be thorough.

GDPR and CCPA

Elekk uses cookies to maintain your login session and for no other reason.

Elekk stores your email address, which is used as your account name to log you in. Your email is not visible to anyone but the administrators of the site. We do not send you email unless you request it.

Elekk has no advertising partners. Because of the nature of a federated social network, we share your non-private posts with other servers. However, we do not share your personal data, or aggregated non-personal data, with anyone. We do publish statistical data about the entire body of Elekk users as a way for others to measure the health of our instance, but your individual information cannot be extracted from those figures.

Scraping

Each user of Elekk.XYZ retains all copyright to the original content of posts they make on Elekk.XYZ. You may not make a copy for any purpose other than the normal functioning of ActivityPub federation and the RSS feeds generated by the Mastodon software of any content originally posted to Elekk.XYZ without acquiring the affirmative consent of the administrator for each post you wish to copy. If you maintain a copy or depiction of any post that originated on Elekk.XYZ, you must regularly check back with the server to determine whether that post has been changed or removed, and you must update your copy or depiction to reflect any changes to the post, or remove your copy or depiction if the post has been removed.

Help, I've been suspended!

If you were an Elekk user and your account was suspended:

Elekk's moderators use account suspension as a measure of last resort. If we suspended your account, the decision was final, in part because we cannot recover your account; suspension irrevocably destroys all data associated with a Mastodon account.

If you are a remote user and you believe your account or your instance was suspended by Elekk:

As this policy has recently been abused, it has been revoked. Remote suspensions are now final, until further notice.
