This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET).

Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered.

When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it is no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again, or until its last succesful check is one year old; in this latter case, from that moment it gets checked only on the first day of each year.

“Random ordering” of results varies daily.

Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist or sovereignist contents by marking them as noxious.

Welcome!

WEBPERF.SOCIAL is a place for those who care about web performance, from novices to professionals. Everyone in related fields is also welcome. It is an open-source, social network based on Mastodon. Managed by @ryantownsend@webperf.social

The primary instance language is English.

Best efforts are made to keep the server up and running, but sometimes things may be outside the admin's control, such as the managed hosting provider experiencing downtime.

When applying to join

When you sign up to join, you will be asked to provide an answer to "Why do you want to join?". Take a moment to write down your response. If your response is unrelated to web performance, web technologies, and web development, or is lacking the requested information, your application to join will likely be rejected.

You must include links to your other social media accounts (e.g. X, LinkedIn, Threads) and/or your personal website for verification – without this your application will be rejected.

This server is committed to the Mastodon Server Covenant and is hosted in France by Masto.host.

Content not allowed

The following rules are a (non-exhaustive) list of behaviors and types of content that may lead to the deletion of posts, silencing, or suspension of accounts, at the discretion of the instance administrators, as described in the webperf.social Terms.

On social.tchncs.de our primary directive is:

Please remember there are real people on the other side of the screen, and those people may have different feelings and opinions and experiences than you do. Some of them may be tired or having a bad day. Or you might.

You don't have to agree with someone to be civil to them. If you can't be civil to someone, leave them alone.

If you don't wish to interact with someone, or see any of their posts, there are tools at your disposal including mute and block functions.

If someone's posts make you angry or upset, take some time to calm down before you reply. You might also try simply excusing yourself from a conversation and ask them to untag you if you no longer wish to discuss a topic.

When someone asks you to leave them alone, leave them alone. If you feel like you can't control your urge to respond to that person, use the block or mute feature so you won't see their posts and be tempted.

Keep in mind that while you cannot control other people's behavior, you are still responsible for your own conduct, even if you feel someone was rude to you or someone else.

We will not allow abusive or disruptive conduct by or toward users on social.tchncs.de. This includes continuing to engage in conversation with someone who has specifically requested you leave them alone, inciting other users to engage with that person on your behalf, aggregating and posting another person's personal information without their consent, and inciting others to engage with that person on other platforms. Blocking someone and then sitting on the other side of a block and continuing to talk about that person is also a provoking behavior.

Before you post, think about whether this is the kind of thing you would like to see (or would like your mom or kids to see) in the public timeline. There are post visibility settings that give you some control over which timelines your post appears in, and also CW and NSFW buttons to hide specific text and images in your post. Be a good social media neighbor and use these functions when appropriate.

Content not allowed on social.tchncs.de

  • Sexual depictions of children
  • Content illegal in Germany and/or France, such as holocaust denial or Nazi symbolism; Antisemitism, Antiziganism or related.
  • Conduct promoting the ideology of National Socialism
  • Content that is considered to be misinformation/conspiracy

Content which will be removed from the public timeline:

  • Excessive advertising
  • Untagged pornography- and sexually explicit content
  • Untagged gore and extremely graphic violence

    • We will also remove any content we judge to be hateful toward specific individuals or groups, or intended to cause or incite harm from the public timeline. This includes Ableism.

    This guideline is intentionally vague because we do not intend to play "rules lawyer" on the subject of what it is and isn't okay to say about people. A good rule of thumb is, if you're about to say something you think might fall foul of this rule, you probably shouldn't say it. ☺


Timeline Flooding

In order to keep the best user experience, we ask you not to send like twenty toots in two minutes (exemplification) as people want to be able to see more than just one user in their timelines.
Of course we understand and may do an exception for critical reasons of yours like a kind of serious emergency situation for example.

Crossposting

Your account must not be used as a sole mirror of some other platform: by having an account on this server, the team and fellow users expect to interact with – and read from – a real and authentic person. We understand that you might want to also crosspost from other platforms, but we also ask you to not do that exclusively.

Reporting / Moderation Notes

If you see content which you believe is in breach of these rules, please report it for review,
it is very important for us, as it makes our work easier and this instance a more enjoyable place.
Please note however that repeately falsely reporting users is not welcomed and are treated as feature-abuse.

In case you broke our rules by mistake, we may try to reach out to you so please make sure not to block the team of social.tchncs.de.

Final interpretation is up to the administration of social.tchncs.de and the administration reserves the right to revoke any user's access permissions, at any time, for any reason, except as limited by law.

Federation status

social.tchncs.de does not believe in censorship. Federation is a network service and suspension of federation with another server will only be implemented as a last resort where content from another server may cause problems under German law, or in cases of technical difficulties or hostile or malicious activity. If we need to suspend federation or silence another instance for one/some of these reasons, it will be noted here (now further below). Did we make a wrong decision in your opinion? Ping us!

This instance is focused around the Tulsa community, and is open to anyone in Green Country and surrounding environs.

Tulsa Social is federated to nearly all instances of the fediverse, which means you can follow pretty much anyone you want, no matter what instance they are on!

We are part of the distributed social network Mastodon. It's like Twitter, except it exists as a federation of lots of little communities (called instances) which can talk to each other.

This community is run by the webmaster of RestrainedElegance.com; other fetish producers, models and fans are very welcome to join us.

Describing your Content When You Post

Please mark "Not Safe For Work" (NSFW) content with the eye button for images AND the CW button for text. It is important to DO BOTH for every post so vanilla users on other instances know what they are getting.

Choose SFW images for avatars, as they show up on people's timelines in other instances regardless of the viewer's content settings.

In Settings->Preferences, you can set "Always mark media as sensitive". (You can also choose "Always show media marked as sensitive" too).

Use the CW text to describe the content- I use NSFW, nudity, bondage, BDSM for my posts.

That will make people click on your keywords like "NSFW, nudity, bondage, BDSM" to reveal the content (which is kinda cool, actually). You can flag CW's automatically if reposting your twitter feed. More detailed instructions here: HERE.

Describing our content is the Mastodon way of being polite and considerate to the neighbours, so they will have our feeds on their instances. This will mean we can reach scene newcomers and worried kinky people seeking out information, as well as existing fans.

General Rules

We are a small and friendly instance and I'd like to keep it that way. So please:

  1. No child porn, illegal activities, necrophilia, bestiality or age play (except with people who are CLEARLY adult). It's the law.
  2. Be kind to each other.
  3. Don't be an arse.
  4. No personal attacks or flame wars.
  5. Don't post stolen content or links to stolen content.
  6. That means no Tube sites, sorry. Not even if you actually own the content on them.
  7. Don't post illegal material, or links to illegal material.
  8. Don't flood the place with irrelevant spam adverts for tractors or coffee machines, but on-topic erotica/webcam/OnlyFans/website links are part of what we're here for.

The admin reserves the right to kick you off if you're not playing nice; you're a guest in our social media house and I'd really appreciate keeping it a friendly place to be.

Shakedown Social is a community for live music fans with roots in the jam scene. Fans of bands like Phish, Goose, the Grateful Dead, Billy Strings, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Umphrey's McGee, the Disco Biscuits and more all gather here.
