Why should I care?

Centralized, for-profit social media has created a massive problem that centralized, for-profit media cannot solve. It makes your life worse. It degrades the digital commons. It restricts and steers the field of social and political possibilities through algorithmic bias, direct manipulation of feeds, and outright censorship. If you care about yourself, your intelligence, the digital commons, or the social and political future of the planet, then you should probably also care about centralization in social media.
