This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET). Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered. When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it’s no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again. “Random ordering” of results varies daily.
Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist or sovereignist contents by marking them as noxious.
We currently count 11,961 Mastodon instances, with 6,648,340 users (1,139,998 active during last month) and 736,116,878 published statuses.

Expectations
Rule Violations
If you find content that is in violation of the Server Rules, please report the account. You may also take action from your own account by muting or blocking the account, or the entire domain/instance.
We actively "defederate" masto.nu from other instances that are incompatible with our fundamental rules, in an effort to protect our users. This comes from reports of users but also community discussion around such bad actors. If you find another instance that you think needs to be restricted from interacting with ours, or if you feel that another instance may have been blocked by our staff in error, please reach out to our staff directly via DM.
Instance Staff
Server Covenant
masto.nu is working on getting listed on joinmastodon.org and we are working to implement all Mastodon Server Covenant fundamental expectations for instance administration. This includes things like active moderation, daily backups, multiple staff members, and a commitment to provide notice to changes in the status of this instance.
Following Norms
There are certain "norms" of Mastodon, and the wider "Fediverse" that you'll be expected to follow while a member of this instance. This includes the use of content warnings when necessary, and the regular use of descriptive text for image uploads. Some of these norms may be different than what you're used to on other platforms. While failure to use these these are not strictly moderation worth events, we do ask that you respect and try and conform to these norms as you explore and grow on the platform.
Our Discretion
We want to foster an open discussion where everyone feels welcome. The rules are meant to be clear and direct, but the staff of this instance has ultimate discretion on how they are enforced. We may alter to these rules as needed, but will make an effort to notify you of any major change.
If you are found to be in violation, the staff may take any action they deem appropriate, such as a warning or an expulsion from the server.
Your Account
You may your close account or move it to another instance at any time. You are in control of your identity and your social graph on Mastodon (and other federated instances) but the administrators here control your ability to use this instance and ultimately to interact with its users.
In addition to regular backups we make of our infrastructure, you can backup your data and export it at any time. You can also delete your account and your data at anytime. You can even schedule regular deletions of previous posts, if that's your thing.
Data Security
Unless it's required of us to investigate a reported instance of abuse of our policies, under standard operation we have no ability to regularly access your direct messages with other members of our platform. While this data is accessible with a request to our hosting providers database systems, we expect that to not be necessary except under extreme circumstances. Where possible we will notify you if such processes are taken for data associated by your account.
However, due in part to the open and federated nature of Mastodon instances, the Mastodon administrators of other instances you interact with may have access to your data.
While the connection to this site is encrypted, this is only the data in transit to you and to other servers in the federated network. The messages and data stored in the instance is not encrypted. This includes direct messages sent to other users of masto.nu! This is not a choice of the administrator, but a limitation of the Mastodon platform. Additionally, our hosting provider may have access to your data as part of the general administration of the server infrastructure.
You should use Signal, Matrix, or another E2E messaging app for the things you really want to be private.
Please review our full Privacy Policy for more information.
Trending Features
One of the key features of Mastodon is there's no sophisticated algorithm to drive more traffic to the site, or influence your thinking. Mastodon does offer hashtag, post, and link trending features that are based solely on observed activity within masto.nu and other federated instances.
Hashtags largely trend on their own without moderator intervention, but can be removed if they are abusive or disruptive. Some links will trend automatically if they're from mainstream or other sources known to be reputable. Some posts will trend automatically if they're from known figures with a history of appropriate content. Other trends are manually approved by our staff, and only removed if they are deemed inappropriate.
Funding
It is not required to pay for continued access to your account, but if you feel obliged to help cover the cost of running masto.nu, please visit one of our sponsor pages to help keep us going.
If we exceed the minimum goal then additional funding will be used to increase capacity, or to make periodic donations to Mastodon gGmbH and other groups supporting development of the platform.

Please read our privacy policy.
Eligibility
You must be aged 13 years or older to register for an account. We do not require you to use any particular language whilst using the service.
Brands
The Blower is a community, not a billboard or a bullhorn. As such, we do not allow brands to register accounts. Brands are invited to join another instance or create their own – try brands.town. Use these guidelines for what we consider a Brand:
If you are unsure whether you are a brand, please email admin@theblower.au to sort it out before registering.
Bot accounts
Bot accounts (i.e., those with automated posting) are permitted on The Blower under these additional conditions:
We reserve the right to refuse or revoke any user's access permissions, at any time, for any reason, except as limited by law.
User Code of Conduct (Rules)
The following types of content will be removed, and will result in account suspension and revocation of access to the service: Registering accounts with inherently malicious intent.
The following types of content are explicitly disallowed and will result in revocation of access to the service:
Content Warning (CW) Guidelines
We encourage the use of Content Warnings (aka Content Wrappers, aka Summaries, aka Topics, aka Subject lines, hereafter CWs) on your posts. CWs are a courtesy to your readers and other members of The Blower community. CWs are not self-censorship: they do not suppress the indexing of posts, only their initial visibility.
The Blower believes that CWs are an important tool to support people's self-autonomy, but they can also be used for expression and creativity.
CWs are not expected on posts made by marginalised people about their own marginalisation, though authors may choose to do so.
Safety and Moderation
We strive to be a welcoming, and safe instance. Mastodon has safety features such as word/hashtag filtering to limit visibility to unwanted content, and we encourage the use of block/muting other accounts rather than engaging in vitriolic arguments. Please make use of the ability to report accounts that break the rules.
Please report users who break following the code of conduct, but please do not message people on behalf of the moderation team. Instead, you can scroll on, block, mute, or report to let moderators deal with it.
We will not act on complaints regarding:
The Blower is one of many Fediverse communities, each with their own rules, moderation, and ethos. You are able to move servers in the future without losing your followers if this instance turns out to not be the best place for you.

Tŵt Community Code of Conduct
"We'll keep a welcome in the hillside, we'll keep a welcome in the vale"
Tŵt Cymru | Toot Wales (“Tŵt”) is a collection of Web services whose mission is to connect Cymru / Wales and its diverse community, at home and abroad, encouraging and enabling the use of the Welsh language online. We strive to provide a welcoming platform that is free from hate, discrimination, and abuse.
Tŵt offers members the opportunity to post text, image, sound and video to the Fediverse, a collection of thousands of servers around the world from which millions of members find and follow people to communicate with. As part of the Fediverse, Tŵt endeavours to provide a moderate, friendly channel for all manner of topics and conversations, while observing the accepted etiquette of being in a public space connected to the federated servers and people around the world.
To that end, the following guidance reflects the wishes of the Tŵt membership, its staff, and the community as a whole. While no such document can be inclusive of all eventualities, it offers a guide to the kinds of content and conduct expected on the service.
Members who contravene this Code of Conduct may be subject to content deletion, account limiting, or account suspension.
In all cases, when using the Tŵt services be respectful, be mindful, and be nice.
Disallowed Content
The following types of content are disallowed and may be removed:
The following types of content are disallowed and will be removed, and may result in revocation of access to the service:
The following types of content are disallowed and will be removed, and will result in revocation of access to the service:
These provisions notwithstanding, the administrative staff of the service reserves the right to revoke any user's access, at any time, for any reason, except as limited by law.
Spam and Inauthentic Activity
You may not use Tŵt services in a manner intended to artificially amplify or suppress information or engage in behavior that manipulates or disrupts another member’s experience. This includes commercial spam, and spam that typically aims to drive traffic or attention from a conversation on Tŵt to specific or third-party accounts, Web sites, products, services, or initiatives. Inauthentic engagement that attempts to make accounts or content appear more popular or active than they are; coordinated activity through the use of multiple accounts, fake accounts, automation and/or scripting may all result in Limited or Suspended access.
Flooding a timeline - repeatedly posting in rapid succession with little to no engagement - is not allowed.
Unsolicited direct messages or mentioned posts, accounts that follow large numbers of similar accounts, or unsolicited romantic interest is not allowed.
Registration of trademarks or famous names is subject to review, and may be subject to verification. If you are or represent a notable organisation or person and wish to reclaim an account or mark please see https://github.com/tootwales/documentation/blob/main/VerifiedAccounts.md
Automated and Bot Content
Bots can provide helpful updates and content. However, many members wish to interact with other members, not bots. Bot accounts must be marked as such in their account settings. This allows members to understand the account is not monitored for replies, and the bot content will not be listed in the Trending section.
The following bot activity is prohibited and will be suspended from the service: * Wholesale redistributing or mirroring content from external services with no discernable consent * Mirroring or copying content from people who have not given consent * Automatedly posting about trending hashtags or topics * Posting the same content across multiple accounts
The following bot activity is prohibited and accounts will be limited to followers-only: * Cross posting non-original content e.g. retweets from Twitter * Unmonitored cross poster bots and services
Sensitive Content Guidance
We believe that participation in social media should be a rewarding activity, one that brings joy and connection. As such, while there are topics and content that are worthy of discussion, we hope our members are mindful of those who do not want their social media feed to be divisive, inflammatory, or upsetting.
The service provides a headline feature that can be used to title a post. This functionality is known as a “Content Notice” or “Content Warning” or “Content Wrapper” or “CW”. This places the content of a post behind a headline, and requires an affirmative click from members to view its contents. It is similar to describing a section of a Web site or a topic of a discussion board, but each member can create whichever topics they choose. It is not a signal that the content is undesirable, merely that there is a good chance a reasonable portion of the membership does not want to see the full content.
If your post meets one of the following criteria, we ask you to show love and respect for your community and use a CW to describe what the member will see if they choose to open it.
In all cases the following is guidance, not a rule. We will not limit your account but may retroactively mark your content as sensitive.
Notwithstanding, content that is marked as Disallowed in this policy will be removed regardless of the use of CW functionality.
(NB: Mastodon does not track hashtags within the CW Headline. Place hashtags in the content of the post.)
| Topic | Common CW Headlines | | ------------- | ------------- | | Politics | ukpol, walpol, tory, uspol, trump | | Nudity | lewd, nude, nudity | | Mental Health and Health Issues | mh, ph, alc, drugs, addiction, suicide | | Common Phobias | spiders, heights, snakes, blood | | Disturbing Content | gore, death, violence, war | | Offensive Language | swears, nsfw | | Direct Eye Contact | ec, eye contact | | Live Sports, Spoilers, and Event Outcomes | WALvIRE, cricket, strictly, bake off |
Politics
Civil discourse is welcome, but politics and politicking are a divisive issue for many. Politicking (activities performed to acquire or retain the power of politics), aqggressively seeking someone’s vote or agreement, derogatory content about elected politicians, elections and electioneering, or party political messaging should include a CW. Please note, lived experience does not fall under this guidance.
Nudity
Tŵt is for use by adults only, however, nudity should be marked with a CW. If staff suspects concerns with non-consensual sharing of nudity, images may be marked sensitive or be removed.
Mental Health and Health Issues
Many people around the world suffer from all manner of health and mental health issues and may suffer harm being exposed to sensitive content. Show empathy to others by placing your individual health and mental health content behind a CW.
Common Phobias
Just because you are not afraid of spiders does not mean no-one else is. Anything that is known to be a common phobia deserves a CW, especially if imagery is included.
Disturbing Content
If there is a valid reason to share content that could reasonably be expected to disturb some, use a CW. Content that glorifies violence will be removed.
Offensive Language
There are plenty of good reasons and thoughtful or entertaining ways to use offensive or profane language. When using obscene profanity a CW is appropriate. Not everyone shares the same perception of what words are offensive. Any discriminatory, harrassing, disrespectful, or insulting language will be removed regardless of it’s perceived offensiveness or use of CW.
Direct Eye Contact
This can be a disconcertingly personal invasion of a very impersonal, asymmetrical activity. Additionally, roughly one percent of the population, and therefore one percent of our membership, has an autism spectrum condition, and can find direct eye contact extremely uncomfortable. Please place eye contact imagery behind a CW.
Live Sports and Events
Putting a CW allows the thread or post to live in the public timeline without spoiling the outcome for others, and without forcing everyone to follow a conversation they have no interest in.
General CW / Headline Guidance
Some Web sites have named sections. Think of your headline as describing the section for the site that this post belongs in. In no way is CW intended to discourage posting of a particular topic, it is merely a helpful way for the millions of viewers to decide what content they wish to engage with.
Not including CW text will not be grounds for suspension, but please note that many of your community members will not boost or share sensitive content that is not described, limiting your content’s reach on the network. Content and accounts that do not meet our Community Code of Conduct will not be boosted, shared, or recommended by staff.
Journalism
Tŵt is not intended to be a source of global news. Instead, it can serve as a place to discuss the news. We exist for community, not content consumption.
Journalism is a vital profession and activity, and we hope our members can find and discuss news that is important to them. However, news sources that spam the feed, hew toward inflammatory or shocking headlines, or generally exist purely to drive content consumption will be limited (able to be followed but not publicly visible in the public feeds unless followed) or, in egregious cases, suspended. Certain local news sources have communicated with Tŵt and are welcome in the Local feed. To avoid these providers please use the Block function. To apply to become an approved news source please see https://github.com/tootwales/documentation/blob/main/ApprovedNewsAccounts.md
Imagery and Alternative Text
When posting images or photographs, it is customary and respectful to add a description of the image. Many members are blind or suffer from sight issues. Alternative text is shown when images are not loaded; will be read aloud by screen reading software; and can be helpful for understanding the intent of a shared image. This is especially important when the image is a picture of text. Additionally, text can be translated into other languages, an image cannot.
See https://www.w3.org/WAI/tutorials/images/ for guidance on using images online. See also https://supercooldesign.co.uk/blog/how-to-write-good-alt-text for guidance on writing useful descriptive text.
In general, describe the image as if you were talking on the telephone. Keep it simple, say what you see.
Not including alternative text will not be grounds for removal, but please note that many of your community members will not boost or share images that are not described, limiting your image’s reach on the network. Images and media that are not described will not be boosted, shared, or recommended by staff.
Moderator Actions
Illegal content will be removed and the member may be reported to law enforcement.
Disallowed content will be removed.
Sensitive content will be marked as sensitive.
For other Code of Conduct reports, in most instances a Moderator will contact the Member and offer a means to correct the content or activity. Members who do not wish to abide by our Code of Conduct may be Silenced during a further Moderator conversation. Silenced members can still be seen by their followers, but will not appear in the public feeds.
Members who repeatedly fail to follow the Code of Conduct may be suspended from the service.
Please note that we cannot moderate all languages. At this time we are allowing European Union language accounts, but cannot accept registrations in any other language. Unsupported language accounts will be suspended with the Unsupported Language Notice and given guidance on finding an appropriate service provider; members will have 30 days to move their account to an alternative service provider. See http://mastodon-near.me/ to find a server in your country or language. If you would like to volunteer to moderate in a particular language, please email hello@toot.wales
General Principles
Tŵt services are a public service accessible by millions. The mission is to provide a communications medium through which we all as fellow humans can freely associate and interact with one another in a warm, respectful environment, even if we disagree with one another on certain subjects.
Community Input
This document is a living document that is intended to reflect the broad consensus of the Tŵt community:
In all cases, when using the Tŵt services be respectful, be mindful, and be nice.
This Code of Conduct is reviewed frequently by the Community Council (https://www.loomio.com/twt/) and reviewed for applicability and actionability by the Moderator team. A list of all parties can be found at https://github.com/tootwales/documentation/blob/main/Organisation.md
To participate as a council member or a moderator please email hello@toot.wales

Core values of ieji.de Safety Our strongest core value is to be a safe place for everyone, if we notice any kind of harassment coming from or going towards our instances, the offending accounts are suspended without parole. Security We use the latest security technology to prevent sensitive data from being accessed from the outside with systems like CrowdSec. This includes not using Cloudflare at all as this would jeopardize your privacy. A sophisticated anti-ddos filter from CDN77 in addition to the well known Arbor Networks filter nullify most attacks. Daily full backups of the database and a daily incremental backup of media files are being made towards a different datacenter within Frankfurt. Performance Another main goal is showcasing how fast mastodon can be by deploying it on the best highest clocking machine money can buy in a one of a kind european datacenter with active-active routing, the usage of CDN77s vast network and using a webserver which enables the latest webtechnologies like http/3, CASPer and quic (h2o). Anonymity The h2o webserver does not create any logs, Mastodon is being given a false IP and we have a tor hidden service address with https enabled and a valid certificate from harica. Also a early supporter of WirSpeichernNicht (german for WeDontSave), a movement against the data retention law that was planned earlier in Germany, pledging not to make logs. Features Whatever comes up as features at Mastodon, we implement it, we want you to have the best Mastodon experience there is, this includes: Full Text Search via ElasticSearch, Translation Service via LibreTranslate and a relay service via AodeRelay, no external services are being used. Longevity The service is online since may 8th, 2017 and is here to stay. Rules of ieji.de Do not harass people in any way, no racism, sexism or transphobia allowed Do not spread explicit pictures or copyrighted material Do not break german law (no nazis or extremists allowed) Do not use the account mainly to publish porn or spam Do not post erotic content without content warning Do not use the account mainly for advertisements or backlinking Breaking rule one results in an instant suspension without parole. Breaking the other rules will give you a strike or suspension depending on severity. Code of Conduct
Short Version
We try to handle moderation ASAP, but we may not see reports for several hours. We will get to all reports though!
We're not a free speech absolutist, and there are instances available for that. We're not interested in Nazis, TERFS, or hate speech of any sort, which we will define at our sole discretion as moderators. No homophobia, transphobia, queerphobia, racism allowed.
This instance is meant to be a friendly, welcoming space to all who are willing to reciprocate in helping to create that environment.
Long Version
The following guidelines are not a legal document, and final interpretation is up to the administration of tech.lgbt; they are here to provide you with an insight into our content moderation policies:
These provisions notwithstanding, the administration of the service reserves the right to revoke any user's access permissions, at any time, for any reason, except as limited by law.
Content Warnings and Sensitive Media
Our Content Warning (CW) policy is intended to make our server comfortable for our community. We are not trying to silence our community or police discussion, but ask that you consider those who may read your posts when making them.
Content Warnings are a feature of Mastodon that enable you to hide the body of a "toot" (post) behind a line of text. The intended use of this feature is to provide a way to discuss sensitive and/or potentially harmful topics without causing duress or harm to anyone who might stumble upon it, though content warnings may be used for a wide variety of reasons.
Images can be marked as sensitive. This is a feature which hides an image until a warning banner is clicked. Images may be marked as sensitive separately from Content Warnings, though using a Content Warning automatically marks the toot's images as sensitive.
Please note that our sensitive media rules apply to profile photos and headers as well. Since those images cannot be hidden behind sensitive media warnings, they are not allowed to contain content from enforced content warnings.
We cannot enforce content warnings on users from other instances, but can help to manage content that you see when reported to instance moderators.
Please be clear and accurate when labeling content warnings, to ensure that they follow both the letter and spirit of the enforcements that we have.
Above all, try to be polite, and come from a place of mutual respect when discussing content warnings with other. We do not condone tone policing, and want to promote healthy discussion in our community.
This cannot ever be a complete list, and so we want to keep it semi-general, and reserve the right to use the judgement of the moderation team to make decisions in the future.
CryptoCurrency/NFTs
We do not allow the promotion, advertisement, or sale of cryptocurrencies on our instance. Mentioning the existence of cryptocurrencies, linking personal accounts or addresses, and otherwise discussing them in a way that is not intended to sell or advertise a specific cryptocurrency is acceptable. We do not have any association with any cryptocurrency or other monetary transactions that happen within the server.
We do not allow the promotion, advertisement, or sale of NFTs on our instance. We do not allow content from our instance, including content and media uploaded by our community members, to be sold as NFTs.

Blocked Instances
We maintain a blocklist of instances that we do not federate with. If you believe that an instance should be added to this list, please contact an admin or moderator.
For privacy and safety of our community, we do not comment on most instance blocks that we have in place. We have recently begun sharing details on major/oft commented moderation decisions via @mods@tech.lgbt
The list is visible for logged-in members under the section Moderated servers below. While we understand that not publishing this list for non-members is not fully transparent, we are not trying to scare of potential new members who want to ensure that their friends are not blocked. The only nefarious intent here are those who have used this information when public to harass individuals and the instance as a whole. Bluntly, if those are the people that you want to interact with, you should probably join their instance instead.
