If you're trashy, DIY, anticapitalist, weird, unprofessional, caring, constructive, I hope you'll find this server a good fit. If you want to promote your work to as many people as possible you'll probably find it a bad fit: we block a lot of servers!

Joining

We keep the place pretty small, but new faces are welcome.

If your application is not accepted it's nothing personal, it's usually because someone's a bit too professional or indiegames and I think you'd be a better fit on one of these well-run servers:

Expectations of Staff

You can expect moderators and admins to:

• Do their best to provide a place where people can feel comfortable and not harassed. However, due to the unpredictable nature of the Fediverse, we can not guarantee a safespace. I think we do a better job than most, though.
• Moderate proactively. Checking the local and federated timelines to make sure the rules are kept to, and block and silence instances who do not meet the instance's expectations. Being aware of actions taken by other instances so problems can be avoided before they reach gamemaking.social members.
• Respond to reports and messages as quickly as possible (within a day or two), and provide feedback.
• Always respond to reports sent in good-faith, where possible.
• If the instance admin needs to leave efforts will be made to transfer it to a new admin, and as much notice as possible will be given.

Other Guidelines and Notes

• gamemaking.social does not claim ownership of anything you post. You retain full rights.
• Account deletion by owners is enabled.
• There's no Google stuff or anything else gross. In your adblocker you'll just need to make sure gamemaking.social, and cdn.masto.host and cf.mastohost.com(media storage) are allowed.
• We don't federate with corporate social networks like Threads, Bluesky, etc., nor support tools to send posts back-and-forth between them.
• We're hosted on masto.host, on the 'Star' plan. I believe the servers are in so-called Canada and France.

1. There is no tolerance for harassment or discrimination of any kind, directly or indirectly. For example: racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia and TERF shit, fascism, general channer garbage, and so on.
2. Burning the planet down by generating and posting AI shit is not welcome.
3. Pro capitalism and pro colonialism nonsense is not welcome.
4. Please use content warnings following the usual Fediverse etiquette; for example for politics (especially USA politics), 'adult'/lewd content, eye contact, food, mental health … if in doubt ask first or check our guide on the gamemaking.tools wiki.
5. Please caption the images and other media you post to the best of your ability.
6. If you don't use your account it may get deleted. This isn't a fancy RSS reader, you should be here to engage with people.
