This server acts as a way to connect the website https://sweepstakestracer.com to the Fediverse network.
Sweepstakes Tracer screens various sweepstakes and giveaways across the web. Once verifying the validity of any given sweepstake or giveaway by looking for posted official rules, legitimate authentic branding, and contact information, the sweepstake or giveaway is then summarized, categorized, and posted on the website for easy access to users to read and enter if they so choose to do so. Upon a post being made on the website, it is automatically relayed through a social plugin to various social media network accounts maintained and operated by the site admin of Sweepstakes Tracer, this includes this instance of a Mastodon server. This account/server is not flagged as automated, however, as I do manually follow other accounts I find interesting and do take part in various relays.
Given the nature of sweepstakes and giveaways being considered advertising or promotional in nature to some, which may be considered a form of spam depending on policy enforcement on any particular public facing Mastodon server, it was found to be best to host the Sweepstakes Tracer user account and posts on this personal server. This allows other servers across the Fediverse to freely domain block this server if they do not want this content to show up on their own servers' feeds, but also gives Sweepstakes Tracer the right to continue to operate and make posts independently on the Fediverse while creating connections with others without worries of being outright censored entirely for trying to offer up a free service to the public and its users. This is one of the many great appeals of the Fediverse, the freedom of information and communication.
I try to limit posts to 10-15 per day on average on Mastodon to prevent actual post spam on others' feeds across the Fediverse out of respect.
I have a large following on BluSky (currently in the thousands) which both moderators and users have received my content well.
