Tabletop Social

We are an inclusive Mastodon community for everything tabletop (& more). We welcome everyone that wants to be part of the community, boardgamers, RPG players, casual gamers, party gamers, hobbyists, LARPers, game designers and publishers, RPG characters, artists, writers, vlogers, podcasters, reviewers, streamers, lego builders and more.

This is meant to be a positive and safe space for people to enjoy each other's ideas, opinion and have fun. To keep tabletop.social that way, the Code of Conduct, Rules and Etiquette will be applied and enforced thoroughly, see below.

Rules and Etiquette

Welcome! Please feel free to join us here, but if you do know that we ask everyone to keep a few things in mind. The following list is not exhaustive, and will be modified and expanded over time. Look, if you get it and you you're good with it, great. If you don't get it, figure it out - we can help! If you don't want to get it, maybe find somewhere else to hang your hat.

Be you

This is a space to celebrate our diversity. Here you don't need to be a brand, be true to yourself and let others do the same.

Cultivate a Safe Atmosphere

Harassment will not be tolerated, oppressive behavior will not be tolerated, and while failure to recognize the boundaries of others may be met at first with a gentle attempt to educate you, repeated failure will not be tolerated.

Share Things

Talk about what you are up to! Talk to other people about what they are up to! Make things! Share you patreon! Post your art! Bots welcome (see below)!

Self Promotion

Have a have patreon, a gumroads, a kickstarter on the go? Is it your main source of income? We get it and encourage you to share these.

What we don't want the local timeline to be is an endless stream of self promotion. Please follow the guidelines.

On Marketing

We allow brands, we allow games accounts, but for its social function, not to exploit it for some other purpose. Company and game accounts are treated similarly to bots and you need to follow the guidelines.

Bots Guideline

Mastodon has different 'timelines' that different people can see - the Local Timeline is a timeline everyone in this community can see. You post to it by choosing 'Public' (the globe icon) in your post toolbar.

We really want our Local Timeline to be an antidote to traditional social media posting; a more down to earth place where people talk about themselves and what they're up to.

Banal Bullshit Unwelcome

There's nothing interesting about homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism, sexism or any of the other unexamined default settings some people grow up with. Being a nazi isn't an opinion, it's shitty and aggressively boring - take it somewhere else. You can feel free to disagree somewhere else where none of us have to hear you. Enforced strictly.

We are very thankful to other community like weirder.earth and sleeping.town and the people running them. They allow people to use their extensive rules, policies and hard gained knowledge about unsafe communities out there.

We mostly follow blockchain's blocklist.

Moderation

The current moderation is done by 4 (four) people. Allow 24 hours for answers, actions and replies .

To report a toot, click the "3" dots menu and click report. It will allow you to select one or more toot. You'll also be able to add a note for the moderators to see.

We are always looking for help to moderate this community, we would appreciate people from different background, life experience and geographies.

To do so and improve bias, we will favor people that are not cis, hetero, white, man, European. To apply send a DM to @host@tabletop.social, the process is not formalized and might take a while.
