Self-promotion

Promoting your own work, commissions and stores is welcome and encouraged. However, we ask that you maintain a balance between regular and promotional posts to maintain a sense of a community.

Building an audience

Mastodon is an algorithm-free social media platform. In order to get your work seen across the Fediverse, we highly recommend using hashtags, adding alt text and actively engaging with the community. Check out this thread for more tips!

You are welcome to share links to your other platforms. However, accounts that are exclusively or primarily used as automated or non-automated cross-posting mirrors to other platforms or Fediverse accounts may be subject to moderation.

⚖️ Federation policy

We aim for an acceptable balance between reach and safety that allows our members to share their work with the widest possible audience while ensuring that they feel comfortable and safe on our server. For this reason, we primarily block individual bad actors and only resort to the defederation of entire servers in cases of particular hardship.

In addition, we encourage you to use the tools provided by Mastodon (e.g., filtering, muting, blocking and reporting) to curate your timeline according to your own preferences.

Moderation policy

We believe in friendly interaction, respect, tolerance and peaceful coexistence. The mastoart.social team reserves the right to moderate or remove content at their discretion if it is not in accordance with these values.

Laws and rules

This server is hosted in a German data center and therefore falls under German as well as EU law. In addition, the server rules apply.

Reliability

Do not use mastoart.social as a permanent repository for your posts, data or media, as we cannot guarantee the permanent storage of your content. We recommend that you regularly create local backups of your content to be safe in case of possible data loss.

Inactive accounts

Inactive accounts with no profile and/or five posts or less will be deleted one month after last login in order to free up storage space. Inactive accounts with more than five posts will be deleted six months after last login.

License and copyright

All original user-generated content on mastoart.social is copyright of the respective author and is not licensed for use by third parties unless otherwise stated.

Any form of scraping, downloading, indexing or collecting data from this server for the purpose of monetization, analysis and/or training of machine learning models (LLM/AI) without the express written consent of the respective authors and all administrators of mastoart.social is strictly prohibited.

1. Be kind and respectful. No personal attacks, harrassment, dogpiling or stalking. Misinformation as well as racist, extremist, ableist, anti-semitic, homophobic, sexist, transphobic or otherwise hateful or discriminatory content are prohibited.
2. This server is for humans, not for corporations or bots. Bots are only allowed if given explicit written permission by the administration team.
3. You may only upload content that you have created yourself, or content created by third parties that you have permission to upload. No NFTs, crypto, or AI-generated/-assisted artwork.
4. No corporate advertising. Promotion of your own work, commissions or stores is welcome, but a balance between regular posts and advertisements is encouraged to maintain a sense of a community.
5. No pornography. Non-explicit mature art depicting consenting adult characters is welcome, but must be marked as sensitive, put under a CW and tagged accordingly. Examples include non-sexual depictions of nude characters, characters in suggestive clothing, or characters engaging in intimate behavior.
6. NSFW and potentially triggering content must be marked as sensitive, put under a CW and tagged accordingly for filtering.
