• Anyone who lives, works, or is otherwise interested in Atlanta is welcome to join.

Backups

• The (PostgreSQL) database containing the records of this server is backed up in full multiple times per day. Backups are securely stored on a third-party storage location separate from the servers on which theATL.social operates.

Spam Accounts

Defintion

• Spam accounts are defined as having one or more of the following characteristics:
  
  
  • Inauthentic accounts representing fictitious individuals and/or (actual or fictitious) organizations. The creation of inauthentic accounts may include the use of scraped images/text to falsely establish identity.
  • Accounts created for malicious purposes or for purposes of abusing server resources through mass DMs or other related activities.
  
  

Detection

• Automated methods are utilized to screen for spam accounts. Accounts detected through automated methods are manually reviewed before further action is taken.

Mitigation and Appeal

• 
  
  Under most circumstances, if a spam account is detected, an email inquiry to the account's email address will be sent. If a response is not received within 7 days, and/or if responses do not provide satisfactory information, accounts may be subject to freezing and/or suspension.
  
  
• 
  
  Egregious examples of spam accounts will be subject to an immediate suspension. Upon suspension, the affected account will have the opportunity to appeal the suspension.
  
  

Reporting

• Reports on the number and reasons for account suspensions will be provided on a periodic basis via newsletters or related communications.

Moderation

  theATL.social wants to be a good citizen in the #fediverse and welcomes users who share that goal. Server rules are established and actively moderated to achieve this goal. Users are asked to kindly review Server Rules before participating or joining the server.

• Server maintenance typically occurs on the weekend. Potential offline periods will be announced, when possible, in advance.
• Full-text search is not yet available due to associated costs, but may be implemented in the future, pending additional contributions.
• If this server is unable to continue operation due to lack of funding or other reasons, users will have at least three months (90 days) notice to migrate their accounts to other servers.
• Please inquire with the admin before creating bot accounts.
