Mastodon server for risk and insurance.

Risk.social is a Mastodon instance for professionals in risk and insurance — although anyone who follows our rules and guidelines is welcome.

Risk.social is working on adhering to the Mastodon server covenant:

1. Active moderation against racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia. Server rules and moderation are in effect.
2. Daily backups. Risk.social is automatically backed up weekly. Working on implementing daily database backups.
3. At least one other person with emergency access to the server infrastructure. Looking for a suitable emergency admin. Is it you? Apply within.
4. Commitment to give users at least 3 months of advance warning in case of shutting down. Committed.

Funding

Funding is provided from the back pocket of @craig. Should additional funding be necessary, donations will be accepted. Until then, enjoy the free ride!

Reporting and moderation

You can report directly from an individual posting, image, or profile for certain violations, including: spam, abusive or harmful content, inappropriate ads, self-harm and impersonation.

Please mind that you are not notified when a report you have made has led to a moderation or other action, and that not all punitive actions are externally visible. For first time offenses, we may opt to delete offending content, escalating to harsher measures on repeat offenses.

This instance is hosted in New York. United States and New York laws apply.

2. You may not threaten or glorify violence against an individual or a group of people. You may not threaten or promote terrorism or violent extremism.
3. You may not share or promote content that is NSFW.
4. You may not engage in targeted harassment, or incite others to do so.
5. You may not promote or threaten violence against, or harass anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.
6. You may not post, threaten to post, or encourage others to post anyone's private information without their express permission.
7. You may not promote misinformation or disinformation.
8. You may not impersonate individuals, groups, or organizations in a manner to mislead, confuse, or deceive others. Parody accounts are acceptable if the profile indicates that it is a parody.
9. You may not spam. Brand/corporate accounts and self-promotion are acceptable so long as the content makes a positive contribution to insurance or risk.
10. Violating one or more of these rules may result in an immediate, permanent ban without notice or warning. Lack of a specific rule against a certain behavior does not indicate acceptance of that behavior. Each of us has a limited amount of time in this world. Don't be a jerk.
