Heya all, since November 2022 awoo.studio has been a mastodon instance for me and my friends. Now comes the time to say goodbye to this instance. 3 months from now on Jan 18 2025 the instance will permanently shut down.
What happens now?
As of today, registrations have been closed. The instance will remain fully functional until the shutdown date of Jan 18 2025.
What should I do?
If you have an account hosted on awoo.studio you should go to https://awoo.studio/settings/export and request an export of your data. This will allow you to download an archive including all your posts & media. Additionally on that page you can create exports of your blocks, mutes & follows so you can import them easily on a different instance. Migrate your account by using the instructions on https://awoo.studio/auth/edit and create public posts announcing your migration.
Why?
There has been a general lack of interest in mastodon from myself and my friends it seems BlueSky has won the battle. Additionally the upkeep and maintenance is not worth it to me anymore.
