Welcome to foojay.social

foojay.social is a Mastodon instance for the OpenJDK community — a friendly, spam-free place for people working with Java, JavaFX, the JVM, and the wider ecosystem to share what they're building.

It's run as part of the foojay.io project, the "Friends of OpenJDK" community hub for Java developers.

Who this is for

We welcome everyone active in the OpenJDK, Java, JavaFX, JVM, and related communities — from OpenJDK contributors to library authors, tool builders, educators, and people just getting started with the JVM.

Joining

Registration is approved by hand to keep the instance spam-free. When you sign up, please include a link that shows your involvement in the community (GitHub, LinkedIn, or another social account) so we can approve your request.

The essentials

  • Be kind. No harassment, hate speech, impersonation, or spam.
  • Use content warnings for sensitive or off-topic posts.
  • Post links to long videos rather than uploading them here.

  5. No incitement of violence, or advocacy of violent acts/ideologies, including political or war-related violence.
  6. No sexually explicit or violent media.
  7. No intentionally false or misleading information.
  8. No advertising, spam or excessive promotion.
  9. Please do not upload (long) videos here, but use a dedicated service for this goal (Vimeo, PeerTube,...) and post a link in your message.
  10. This Mastodon instance only accepts users from the OpenJDK community. When registering, please add a link to something that can prove your contributions (GitHub, LinkedIn, other social accounts). Sorry, but we get are flooded with spam accounts and can only accept clear requests...
