A friendly space for neurodifferent folks.
This space is designed for ND (dx, self-id/dx, or questioning) folks to find each other and connect in a space that is welcoming.
Please read the rules.
About the serverWho is welcome on Neurodifferent.me?This space is designed for ND folks to find each other and connect in a safe space that is welcoming.
We support self-identification/diagnosis as these are often inaccessible due to cost, biases and other factors. Questioning people are welcome. Many of us found our way to diagnosis by seeing ourselves reflected back through others experiences.
Note: We are an intersectional space, and just because one may not personally share an experience someone else does, does not give us the right to silence or invalidate others voicing of their own experiences, even if it makes us uncomfortable.
Content WarningsContent Warnings (CW) are an integrated part of mastodon, and provide a method for people to choose to protect topics that may be sensitive. If you feel that something may be sensitive, or spoil someone's experience (eg. sharing about a TV show), you are encouraged to post using a CW.
Note: Users will not request other users to suppress aspects of their intersectional identities, and related experiences, behind a CW. No user should have to suppress their own identity in order to avoid complaints, reports or harassment by others.
Note: There is a setting in your preferences to open all posts with Content Warnings automatically, if you don't want to click through each one.
Image descriptionsIt is an expectation of this instance that you add accurate descriptions to images and video that you post to aid in accessibility. (A description like "image.jpg" that does not aid in accessibility would not meet this expectation.)
If you post an image of a screenshot of text, it is an expectation of this instance that you transcribe the text in the image description.
It is the responsibility of all users to remind each other about descriptive text, so that this is an accessible space for all.
Behaviours that may result in a banRacism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, queerphobia, able-ism, etc. (may result in a permanent ban, you may not receive a prior warning)
Misuse of reporting mechanisms to target marginalized individuals.
Serious dishonesty that is hurtful to others.
Impersonating other people.
Harassment of any kind.
Accounts that automatically repeat a Twitter account, RSS feed, etc. must post as Unlisted, not Public.
Abuse / Weaponization of moderation/reportingDo not attempt to weaponize our anti-abuse/reporting tools/policies against other marginalized groups.
We are an intersectional space, and just because we may not personally share an experience someone else does, does not give us the right to silence or invalidate others voicing of their own experiences, even if it makes us uncomfortable.
Attempts to re-centre discussions of marginalized people around the feelings of the privileged will be taken as manipulative behaviour undertaken in bad-faith. (E.g. white people should not demand that Black people put CW's on every discussion of race or a straight person who reports a queer person for writing "I dislike straight people".)
