About mas.to

mas.to is administered by volunteers based in Scotland. Our primary servers are located in Germany, with backup infrastructure in Scotland. These are shared resources that also power mastodon.scot.

We currently have 140 processor threads, 550GB memory and 46TB of primary storage available.

Donations

We run mas.to as a free service because we love Mastodon, but it costs us lots of money! If you'd like to donate towards our running costs you can contribute by buying Trumpet a donut. Or lots of donuts! Trumpet loves donuts.

The current recurring monthly costs for our shared infrastructure total £964.57, including:

• Server hosting - £638.17
• CDN/object storage - ~£250.00 (variable)
• Mail delivery - £26.40
• Backup infrastructure - £50

Our current monthly donation income (before processing fees and charges) is £1,084.20.

Moderation

Moderation of this server is carried out by our volunteer moderators on a best-efforts basis, based on interpretation of content posted to the server against our published rules.

We subscribe to the IFTAS pledge against targeted misgendering and deadnaming in the Fediverse.

We’re working with Gaza Verified to welcome and provide a safe space for Palestinians.

1. No discrimination, including (but not limited to) racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia (including targeted misgendering, deadnaming, or promotion of so-called 'conversion therapy').
2. No explicit (NSFW) content without content warnings and/or sensitive media markers. Explicit content must not be used in user avatars or header images.
3. No harassment of other users on this or other servers.
4. No content illegal in the following countries: United Kingdom, Germany
5. No incitement of violence or promotion of violent ideologies.
6. No disinformation regarding public health issues or political/military campaigns.
7. No spam. This includes commercial advertising, promotion of services, and SEO.
8. No impersonation of other individuals, public figures or organisations, unless clearly marked as a parody.
9. All automated (bot) accounts must enable the bot flag in their account preferences, respect #nobot markers, and post as unlisted unless making less than one post per hour.
