We are CatCatNya~, a left-wing instance founded by cats, for cats (and more!)

Welcome to CatCatNya~! We are an instance hoping to foster a diverse queer community's presence in the Fediverse, which includes, but is absolutely not limited to:

• queerness
• plurality
• disability
• anti-racism

We are mainly speaking English and German, but other languages are also welcome.

Basically, the only things we exclude is fascists and tankies. We do not like those. Authoritarianism is garbage because it is detrimental to what's mentioned above. Yes, even cats. Have you ever seen a cat like authority?

Unfortunately, some authority is required to do moderation and even to host an instance to begin with.

Federation policy

CatCatNya~ will generally freely federate, however, meowderation is strict. Defederation will occur if harassment occurs, fash/tankies are on the overwhelming majority on an instance, an instance being "free speech", or if an instance is otherwise deemed an immediate danger to users on CatCatNya~. If an instance does not pose an active threat to its users, but is deemed unmeowderated, it will likely result in a limit. Actions done by remote nyadmins/meowderators are weighed more heavily than individual users.

If your instance uses the UFoI, it will likely be suspended, since the very nature of the UFoI is a malicious pact founded by the admin of qoto.org to stop folks from defederating from them.

If your instance welcomes cops, it will at the very least be limited, but we may suspend.

While our set of guidelines already states that anything illegal in Austria will be blocked, we feel it is neccessary to highlight that we suspend any instances promoting child sex abuse ("MAPs" and other euphemisms for pedophilia) and zoophilia once we notice them.

If your instance runs a really old version of a Fedi software and it causes processing issues at our end, your instance may be suspended simply because you don't keep your software up-to-date at all. You shouldn't be running Mastodon 2.5.2 anymore. No, 2.7.0 is also not going to cut it.

In response to the poor performance of big instances like mastodon.social and mastodon.online, we are implementing the following simple policy: Once we reach around 200 monthly active users, we will disable registrations. We are strongly opposed to the existence of big instances of software for a decentralized protocol.

This instance is hosted on the same machine as an Arch mirror. Therefore, the network performance on this instance may vary. This should not be a real issue, considering these server specs:
