This search engine for Mastodon instances is based on a database that gets updated by our crawler every night (CET).
Instances are considered new for 30 days after they are discovered.
When an instance has not responded to our daily checks for more than 30 days it is no longer considered in statistics and searches and it gets checked only on the first of the month, rather than daily, until it possibly responds again, or until its last succesful check is one year old; in this latter case, from that moment it gets checked only on the first day of each year.
“Random ordering” of results varies daily.
Default search criteria reflect our fondness for a decentralized and egalitarian Fediverse and our attempt to exclude instances accepting fascist, racist, sexist, ableist or sovereignist contents by marking them as noxious.

Welcome to Mastodon.me.uk, a social media community hosted in the UK; part of the Fediverse/ActivityPub/Mastodon federated social network, which allows you to follow users on other communities. It's a bit like Twitter but without a single company in control.

How We Moderate Content
Your moderation team is @Floppy, @CatherineFlick, @Darkedge, @pauljrobinson, and @jezhiggins. We hope to move to a democractically-elected mod team at some point when we work out how.
The moderation team on this instance are responsible for enforcing our Code of Conduct (see below). In general, our approach is to let people say what they like (unless clearly illegal), but prevent them saying it publicly where it can hurt others. We think that's best aligned with the principles of the Fediverse as a whole.
These principles apply to both local users and federated content, though obviously we can only take the ultimate action to delete content for local users.
We will react to reports as quickly as we can, though please remember we are humans and cannot always respond straight away (especially at night). And of course, we can only respond if we know about infringements, so please use the report button!

Scope
This Code of Conduct applies both within project spaces and in public spaces when an individual is representing the project or its community. Examples of representing a project or community include using an official project e-mail address, posting via an official social media account, or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event. Representation of a project may be further defined and clarified by project maintainers.
Enforcement
Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by contacting the administrator at @floppy. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The project team is obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident. Further details of specific enforcement policies may be posted separately.
Server maintainers who do not follow or enforce the Code of Conduct in good faith may face temporary or permanent repercussions as determined by other members of the project's leadership.

- Find people you know over there by connecting your accounts up to Fedifinder or Twitodon.
- Many thing you might consider "missing features" are intentional; for instance, quoting other posts is intentionally not possible. Try to get comfy and learn a bit about the space before suggesting it should change.
Fediverse Etiquette (Fediquette?)
- Use content warnings on posts that people might prefer not to see (politics most often, but you'll see many other examples). It's easy and polite.
- Don't crosspost indiscriminately between networks.
- #PutHashtagsInCamelCase, it makes them easier to read for everyone.
- Add descriptions to your images. Object-Action-Context is a great method.

- People that clearly breach UK law (or who are considered spammers by the mods) will be removed immediately.
- People that attack other people or groups based on who they are (not for what they believe) will be suspended - that basically means they'll be silenced, and fully deleted after 30 days.
- People that post offensive content, or who post regularly without using an appropriate content warning will be limited, making their posts only visible to their followers.
- People that have previously posted offensive content on other networks (including Twitter) may be pre-emptively moderated here, though in general we will limit rather than suspend until the accounts actually breach the guidelines on this network.
- Servers that fail to meet similar standards of moderation will be limited, though we much prefer to limit individuals if we can.
- Servers that encourage offensive content will be blocked.

Mastodon User Policy
Scope and Audience
This policy is for users who have their accounts on deadinsi.de. There is a separate peering policy for deciding when and how to federate with other instances. Generally, for users on the instance a higher standard applies.
Our instance is only available to users for personal use. Accounts with a commercial background should look elsewhere. Promoting your own work is okay, as long as it is not the focus of your account.
Intent and Remedies
Our guiding principle for remedies is that of intent and willingness to correct ones own behavior. It is okay if you fuck up. But we expect you to correct your behavior as soon as we point it out.
Please approach the moderation team with any issues or questions about this policy, or any other policy in this document. We're always happy to expand in the rationale of these policies and provide advice about being excellent to each other.
If you disagree and reject our requests to fix your behavior, maybe this isn't the right instance for you.

Reporting Violations [#]
If you notice anything that violates this code of conduct, please report it, or otherwise make it known (i.e. DM @Ember, or send an email to the contact address at the top). It is easy to assume that someone else has already reported something, but it is easy for everyone to feel that way and no one to report it.
As a bit of a side-note, this doc is only a rough guideline, the rules set out a bare minimum, do not take them as a requirement for reporting something.
