Welcome to gogo.social, we're glad you've made it here. Gogo was founded by 2 telecomms engineers based in the UK and Portugal, who by day and with a combined 40 years experience build large-scale communications systems.

We are passionate about designing technology which has a meaningful purpose, often making peoples lives better by enabling them to communicate with their friends, families, communities and customers easier and cheaper.

Witnessing what has happened to what was once a great platform like Twitter (now known as X) has been a real shame to experience, as frequent users we figured there must be a better way and wanted to do something to fix this problem, so we decided to channel our frustrations in providing a solution.

Hense, gogo.social was born. But how can we power a system which has thousands or even millions of users? Well we are fortunate enough to run a telecommunications company that has ample spare server capacity and data centre resources which can support just that. Ensuring the service is fast, private, secure and able to scale to millions of users.

As users look to find a new micro-blogging home, our goal for gogo is to build a platform users are familiar with by taking the very best parts of X but leaving the very worst parts with them.

gogo is for everyone who wants to connect with their community, share their stories, their news and their views with an emphasis on local and international current affairs, politics, business, technology, visual arts and photography.

With no algorithms designed to serve only corporate interests, gogo exists to serve all our users and make it easier to find others and be found by others.

This is supported by a great moderator team who ensure users are able to share content and express their views whilst safe from abuse, harassment and trolling.

Technology

The gogo platform is based on the Mastodon open source project which seamlessly connects to every other Mastodon user in the world, but have you noticed that we don't look like a typical Mastodon server? Since our inception, we have worked on re-designing the interface to be clean, more user friendly and beautiful.

As techies, having Mastodon at the heart of the platform is really exciting for us, we're able to start with a user centric project and layer great features on top of it to make gogo truly accessible to a wide andience. At the same time using our expertise to give back to the core Mastodon project with bug fixes and software development submissions.

Useability and great design is a core part of our ethos where we continually strive to make the service better and better, and this will extend beyond the web version and into the gogo iOS and Android apps when released in 2025.

Whilst we work on developing our app for iOS and Android you can use the official Mastodon app (or any other generic Mastodon app) to access gogo.social, simply enter our server gogo.social on the Log In page and you'll be prompted to sign in with your gogo.social credentials:
