Who is Mstdn.games?

We are building a decentralized social gaming hub for gamers and developers from around the world. We welcome you to post about your other interests as well. Our team is excited to have you join us and we look forward to seeing your posts on the Fediverse!

Sign-ups to this instance are by application only to help prevent bot account creation and to foster a healthy community. For these reasons, please provide a detailed reason you want to join, in English, on your application. It is our top priority that this is a safe and friendly space for gamers, developers, streamers, and content creators from all walks of life.

If this server is ever to shut down, we agree to follow the Mastodon Server Covenant and give you 3 months' notice so you have time to transfer.

Migrating from another instance:

Create a new account on the server (mstdn.games).

On the new account:

Go to preferences -> Moving from a different account. Enter the handle of the old account. Click Create alias.

On your existing account:

Go to preferences -> import/export -> data export Download the CSV file called "Follows" Go to preferences -> account -> Move to a different account. Enter the handle of the new account and the current account password. Click Move Followers.

On the new account:

Go to preferences -> import/export -> data import. Choose the Follows file you downloaded previously.

Click Upload.

It will potentially take a little while for all followers to migrate across.

Moderation:

Our server rules are not a legal document or agreement and the interpretation of these rules is at the sole discretion of our administration staff.

1. Be yourself. Be genuine. Make connections. Have fun. We welcome you to post about topics outside of gaming as well! No bot accounts are allowed without explicit permission from the Admin.
2. We have a zero-tolerance policy for hate speech (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia/transmisia, misgendering/dead naming, xenophobia, ableism, etc) or illegal activity of any kind.
3. Be respectful to others. No harassment or trolling is allowed. No sexually explicit or violent posts. No personal attacks of any kind (bullying, trolling, name-calling, etc) or spreading of misinformation or disinformation.
4. Users are expected to behave as an individual person and not primarily as a bot, brand or storefront. Self-promotion is allowed and encouraged within the server guidelines. Do not spam the Local feed or send direct messages to advertise to users. Paid advertising of any kind is not allowed.
5. 'Content Warnings' (CWs) are not required but are encouraged. Be respectful to your fellow users. Be aware and sensitive to ongoing world events. NSFW posts require a Content Warning (CW) AND a Sensitive Media tag. Please add Alt Text descriptions to images and media where appropriate.
6. Crossposting using a 3rd party app is OK: Those posts MUST be posted as Unlisted and cannot be listed as Public on the Local Feed. Accounts are expected to be used to interact with the community directly. Accounts that appear to be bots or primarily crossposting will be suspended.
7. No promotion or discussion of Cryptocurrency, NFTs, or multi-level marketing schemes is allowed. However, sharing about your hobbies, business, and/or personal interests outside of gaming are allowed and encouraged.
8. IMPORTANT: By applying, you agree to the server rules. Due to a surge in bot signups, generic or brief applications will be declined. Please give a genuine reason for joining. Thoughtful applications help our Admins and Mods keep the community safe. Thank you.
