Aviating.com Social runs the Glitch-soc version of Mastodon, allows 2000 character posts with rich text (Markdown or HTML), and federates widely. It is maintained for pilots (including student pilots; all pilots are student pilots) but we do not check your license when you join. This can be your general home on the Fediverse; we are not limited to aviation content. Yes, you can post your wordle scores.

We are hosted in a secure data center, and our content is backed up on a schedule (hourly at this time) to storage hosted on the other side of the NA continent, using encrypted backups. We have three administrators with system and Mastodon administrative access (@mcdanlj, @juphoff, and @javier); others whom we trust may be added from time to time. No shutdown of this site is planned (lists.aviating.com has been running for a few decades) but if it is ever contemplated, we plan to give substantial warning, and outside of extenuating circumstances we expect that to be at least three months warning.

We have discovered that Gmail is labeling some account validation emails as "spam" so please check your spam folders for validation mails, and then please feed the AI monkeys by marking them as as "not spam" when you validate your account.
