This is a meeting, discussion and sharing space for those working critically and creatively with experimental digital sound, art and design, especially listening, technology, ecologies, capitalism and living through and beyond all of these.

It is intended to connect people working within and without institutional support, fostering experimental creative practice.

Ideas, readings, questions, drafts, skill-sharing, resources, things to listen to and anything else that helps us all find new ways of knowing all welcome.

This server uses the software Hometown, a fork of Mastodon maintained by Darius Kazemi.

You can follow others, whose posts will then show up in your 'Home' timeline.

The 'Local' timeline is all posts on this server you can see.

The 'Federated' timeline is all posts from this server and others in the 'fediverse' of servers running similar software that one of us has interacted with.

Hometown gives you a lot of control about how you post and who can see your posts but the key setting is the one represented by the link - 🔗 - icon, above and to the left of the 'Post!' button on the web interface.

It controls whether your post is visible only on this server, or made public on the internet.

The 'Preferences' menu is towards the bottom of the right side-bar menu in the standard web view.

There are lots of options to control how the server works for you, including setting defaults for posting.

This is an experimental space.

While all care is taken, things might break and data may be lost.

That said your data won't be used for anything other than the provision and management of this server.

You can download your data, delete it here, and move to another server at any time.

Accounts that show no login for more than three months will be suspended, to avoid unneccessary resource usage.

1. This is a lightly moderated space, but should be a safe space for all and any harassment, bullying or discriminatory behaviour can be reported and will result in intervention from mods and/or admins.
2. Currently @benbyrne is the only admin and mod. He can be reached by DM, and posts can be reported using the option in the '...' menu.
3. Please DM @benbyrne if interested in volunteering as an admin or mod.
4. Any accounts that show no activity for 3 months will be automatically suspended - you can contest the suspension if you want to keep using your account, but otherwise it will be deleted a month later. This is just to ensure we avoid unnecessary data storage and phantom accounts. Lurking is welcome.
