A place for musicians and those who love music to share.

1. Be good and kind to each other. Give people's music a try. You don't have to like it, but you also don't have to tell everyone you don't like it either.
2. Polite disagreements are fine but being rude will get you banned.
3. Invalidating someone else's music preferences, except for intolerant types of music (hate music etc) will earn a ban.
4. No advertisements except of musical bands or acts and related ads. "My band is on tour" is fine. "My cryptocurrency ad has music!" is not fine.
5. Links to illegal content are banned, especially music downloads you don't permission to distribute.
6. NSFW content without tagging will get you banned.
7. No spam.
8. If you're looking for Mastodon that rock / metal band, they're over at @mastodonmusic@mastodon.social (they're welcome to be here too but wow, epic namespace crossover).
9. No posting other artist's work without credit AND analysis/opinion.
10. No racism, sexism, discrimination against gender and sexual minorities, ableism, fatmisia, xenophobia and/or violent nationalism, or the advocation of all of the above.
11. Conduct intended to stalk or harass users, impede users from using the service, degrade the performance of the service, or incite others to perform any of the aforementioned actions, is disallowed.
12. No content that includes sexual depictions of minors (this includes loli), content illegal in Germany and/or France and/or United States, such as holocaust denial or Nazi symbolism, conduct promoting the ideology of National Socialism.
13. No NFT content. None at all. There are crypto-related instances on the fediverse that would be more suitable.
14. Tag sensitive content such as violence/blood, NSFW content, and other potentially upsetting or triggering topics, AND hide them under a Content Warning (CW). Weird that this might happen on a music instance, but yet here we are...
15. Mastodon Music has a zero-tolerance mandate for harassment or bullying — your account will be immediately suspended.
16. No unapproved bots, advertising, or spam. One big exception is direct posts by musicians about their music and concerts. For now there's no rule on corporate posts, but if things get noisy and less-useful, we'll reword this to exclude excessive-profit-generating posts.
17. Prefer music purchase links over streaming links. (This isn't a hard and enforced rule, but musicians need everyone's support. In other words, post Bandcamp or Store links at the top, and Spotify / YT Music links in the reply or comment whenever possible.)
18. Twitter and Meta etc have a documented history of enabling hate speech under the guise of "free" speech. This is bad for the world. Ultimately the safety of the users of this server is paramount. If you want to connect with Threads users, another server is your best bet.
